Jonah Bertorelli

Well deserved

VKunia

then give me some movies that you would! :) wanna listen to *all* recommendations โค๏ธ

Rey

You da best V!

Bryan Tuck

Heh; all good. Just didn't want you to get turned off to the franchise by the one movie that had nothing to do with any of the others. :)

VKunia

IM SOWWI but ty for correcting me! The correct versions will be up there soon hehe

VKunia

LMAO noted

Jonah Bertorelli

You should check out "high school" from 2010, it's a stoner comedy (action/comedy) that's hilarious. One of my favorite movies of all time. If I told you the plot you'd wanna watch it immediately, but I wanna try to get it in a poll without having to spoil it!!! lol Not to be confused with 'Mac and Devin go to high school' or "how high". it's just called "high school" with a green locker for a thumbnail.

jamie jones

Its the best one of the poll.

jamie jones

I meant to put a 2, my bad. Robocop 2.

Rey

She did that one already

Rey

Miss vkunia would you please put any other planet of the ape movie on this poll , that 2001 is pure garbage and is not connected to the old ape films or the new ones

Tom W.

It surprised me too. It's a good movie but I didn't realize it was so beloved.

Justin

Says a lot

MertzRocks

Hardly anyone even REMEMBERS Fantastic Planet from 1973 with the weird animation and EVEN WEIRDER soundtrack (which kicks ass imho). How about even Fantastic Voyage from 1966? Anyone remember THAT? Though dated now, the fx were pretty cutting edge then. I hated some of the sound fx tho lol.

Greg S.

District 9 in the lead out of all these? lol

Darth Praetus

How about the rest of the Predator series? You've only done the first movie

Bryan Tuck

2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY is a masterpiece, but you do kind of have to give it time to envelop you. It's very slow and deliberately-paced, but it will blow your mind in the end. :) (There's also a brief "overture" at the beginning that seems to confuse some reactors.) Also... standing in its shadow is the sequel 2010: THE YEAR WE MAKE CONTACT, which is a more conventional movie, but really not a bad one.

Jordan Love

Forbidden Planet (1956). Gotta love Leslie Nielsen.

Bryan Tuck

Up to you of course, but the 2001 version of PLANET OF THE APES is probably the *least* essential movie in that franchise, not to mention one of the weakest. :) I would definitely start with either the original from 1968, or RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES (2011), which began what is generally considered the "Caesar Trilogy." That trilogy also includes DAWN OF... (2014) and WAR FOR... (2017), and it's mostly self-contained, although the new movie coming out later this year (KINGDOM OF...) apparently follows it, continuity-wise. Hope all that makes sense!

jamie jones

Robocop would be sweet

Ian

Have to go for the abyss which ofc means it's screwed cuz my voting success rate is beyond terrible ๐Ÿ˜‚

_tragicmike

I'm surprised THE ABYSS isn't getting more love. A true Cameron classic.

_tragicmike

Yes, the Special Edition version is the only way to go.

Joe Mallard

If you're going to do an Apes film, it has to be the Andy Serkis trilogy.

mikethemotormouth

I'm in the minority that is OK with either

mikethemotormouth

Good thing you don't have to ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Erik Stevenson

This is a pretty great list of Sci-Fi movies. I'll quietly shout-out Moon and Snowpiercer, these are definitely less well known and lower-profile movies so I'm not super surprised to see them pretty far down the rankings, but if people are looking for some fun stuff to check out on their own time, those two stand out on this list.

Jacob King

Voted for 9 films. This list is too good.

Tom W.

It is. And no one can forget the back alley fight sequence. But it's also fairly boring in the second half.

Stephen Werben

She watched both Blade Runner movies already

Jonathan Wiking

why is 2001 apes here instead of the original 1968 one?

Tom W.

The director's cut of the Abyss is still my go-to example of a movie that is wildly different between the original theatrical and the director's cut. It makes it a totally different movie.

Tom W.

The Arnie one is the only real one period The other is a pale imitation.

Robert Jewell

I voted for James Cameron's excellent The Abyss which sadly is not scoring high, but V if you do watch it be sure to watch the special edition which is what Cameron wanted released, but the studio cut a major scene because they ludicrously wanted the movie to be shorter.

Justin

District 9 is a must watch

Jonathan Shulfer

Please also consider Elysium 2013 & Blade Runner 1982.

Mathieu Paquin

I would highly recommend Arrival (2016), same director as Dune and Blade Runner 2049. I think a lot of people suggested it as well! One of the best modern sci-fi movies imho, incredible storytelling, cinematography and acting, I think you'd love it :)

Stephen Werben

Great, definitely a worthy contender!

mobius112

There is a surprising low amount of reactions to classic and modern sci-fi out there

VKunia

it is the arnie one!

Stephen Ray

They Live is such a classic!

nitind

It's a marvelous film, but the pacing could be a problem.

Brian's Dog

The Abyss got its 4K release last month from Jimmy Cameron when True Lies, Aliens, Avatar did. The new release it not only amazing, but it included both versions of the film in one: Theatrical and Director's Cut.

Stephen Werben

Total Recall... there are 2 version so which one are you thinking of? I hope the 1990 classic with Arnie

NareikAC

i dont like any of these films :(

Brian

So many good films to watch on the list. It's hard to just pick one.

Matt

I remember seeing Children of Men on a poll when I became a patreon like 3 years ago, and it still hasn't won one๐Ÿคฏ its such a masterpiece

Tony Mandler

Please everyone vote for Dredd it is awesome.

AC5555

2001!
