On my first time through season 4(last Summer), I didn't know that the "final chapter specials" were part of the main show's storyline. But when I got to the "end", I was like "nahh, this can't be it" then continued on like "ohh okay, so this IS the finale." It's so sloppy how they've numbered and renamed all these last few episodes. They should call it "Season 5" or just lump them all into a "AoT Series Finale" movie.

After next episode, there's still 2 and a half more hours of AoT in the Final Chapters. We've got a long way to go to the end! (I guess she'll catch on when she sees the "to be continued" on the next episode.) But yeah, that ending with Magath and Shadis was pretty damn poetic. A lot of people miss this callback, but this was Connie's moment when he kept the promise he made to Reiner in season 2. Annie had saved Connie early in season 1 (in the supply HQ) and Reiner saved Connie from the Titan that broke into Utgard Castle in season 2. That same episode, Connie told Reiner that he and Annie had saved his life and he would have to repay them someday. And today, he finally did.

V!, Lmao, there are TWO specials that wrap up season 4. THE FINAL CHAPTERS 1 and 2 lol. Like many series these days, season 4 was split into 2, with Episode 87 being similar to a mid-season cliffhanger of shows here in the states. THEN they gave the show a big send off with TWO season 4 specials to finish the MAIN PLOT lol. There was a lot of time, irl, between 87 and the first special; many months. So the first special was used as a big hook to get people back into the ending as an hour long episode, and the second special took another long minute to make, with huge celebrations and events in Japan, that just happened within the last year, but then hits you with the ending, almost, movie length episode! The side plot OADs ended BEFORE season 4. I know on Crunchyroll they have them listed as season 5 but they end before season 4 starts.

I love the moment that Mikasa sees Magath cut and remove Falco from his Titan. She knows what that feels like because she has done the same with Eren. I think it's a moment that makes the bonds tighter of our new group of heroes.
