I hope you've had a good week, and hopefully a nice, calm and relaxing weekend ahead!! 🤗🧣
Out of all the polls - I think I struggle the most with Sci-Fi polls since there are so many sub-genre's of Sci-Fi, I just don't know what to throw on here!!! I'd say this is the genre I'm most unfamiliar with which is why I need YOU to help me!! Any and all recommendations are highly appreciated 🤗
I never know what extends to sci-fi so if you have any favorites or anything you think I should DEFINITELY watch, don't hesitate to let me know 🥰
I'm only familiar with a few of these titles so hopefully they're good!! I was thinking about beginning Godzilla soon, but there are so many movies - I don't know where to begin so letting me know where to start would be much appreciated. 🤗
I appreciate you guys so much, let's see what wins! 🥰💮🌷🌿

Damn, I wish Dark City was just a little higher... Fantastic flick.
Samuel
can you start a series called misfits
Patrick Dillon
I hope you get to "Moon" eventually. Such a fantastic movie, and so little known.

Thoughts on how to watch all these films? How many are there? How do I start? I’ve seen the 50s original and Minus One.

Could not remember the correct term so I used what I knew would get the point across. It also follows the novelization very well. Written by Orson Scott Card.
Bryan Tuck
I guess this is semantics, but the longer version is officially known as the "Special Edition." James Cameron had final cut on the film, so technically both versions are "director's cuts."
Garret Smith
It’s got particle throwers, that was my only way to enter it lol

Hey V, You should really take the top 4 or 5 on this list and react to them. It may save you a lot of time with the polls.
mikethemotormouth
Nice to see I'm not alone in my appreciation of the Roland Emmerich Godzilla
Jeremy Bassi
As far as i know it's just gonna be Godzilla Minus One on prime on May 3rd. While Shin Godzilla is on Crunchyroll right now.
Joe Mallard
Are both of them going to be on there?
Connor Clarey
Let’s gooo, starship troopers is so good
Matt
Godzilla 1954 is the OG if you do some old films start there, or if you just want to watch the modern US reboot Godzilla 2014 is where you start, Godzilla 1998 is a guilty pleasure so I would love a reaction to that and Godzilla Minus One 2023 is an absolute masterpiece so definitely check that out when it eventually is streaming 🦎
Robert Jewell
I voted for THE ABYSS which imo is the best film on the list along with MINORITY REPORT although both seem to be trailing sadly enough.
Ian
Some wonderful choices here but as it's one of my all time favourites I'm hoping the abyss takes it if not starship troopers because it's awesome fun just ask Natalie she just reacted to it last week and had a blast 🔥

Dune part 2 plz but also you been putting children of men in polls for years and it always loses to these big blockbusters when it's such an amazing film. I think its high time you make a executive decision to react to it.
mikethemotormouth
More supernatural comedy than sci-fi, isn't it?
Jacob King
Lots of good movies on this list but Children of Men is at a different level.
S. D.
If you watch The Abyss, you need to watch the directors cut. Also, after watching, look for the videos on the behind the scenes. That will certainly impress you.
Matt
DUNE part 2.
Garret Smith
No Ghostbusters :( I’m gonna keep trying tho! Please do ghostbusters lol
Matt
Please watch Children of Men its been in the polls for years
Long-time Sci-Fi Enthusiast
Some Sci-Fi suggestions, Village Of The Damned 1960, Fantastic Voyage 1966, The Andromeda Strain 1971, Rollerball 1975, Flash Gordon 1980, Flight Of The Navigator 1986, Stargate 1994, Soldier 1998.
Aiden
So many good ones here. My personal favourite is Children of Men, hope you get around to it sometime soon. hope you’re doing good as well❤️
Jorge Hernandez
1990 is the original. I know I had to double-check too. Feels like it was an 80's flick but it's right on the borderline so maybe that's why.
Brian's Dog
This poll is stacked with all the good stuff.
Joe Mallard
Demolition Man
Raptor
That's a good list. Lots of bangers on this one. Then i vote and the results and i'm like "who are you people?" lol. I'm not mad about the top 2 winning even though I didn't vote for them but how is Dark City getting so few votes. Its Dark City! Dark City! Its so good! Event Horizon good! Also, sad the Abyss isn't getting the love either. A James Cameron masterpiece. and John Carpenter's They Live needs to stay in your poll cycle, V. Rowdy Roddy Piper, a WWF wrestling legend, is the lead and he kills it, like I mean kills its.
Richard Lowe (The Writing King)
I like both versions. Dark city is such a great movie, I can watch it over and over.
Eric Janssen
Oo, another first-timer gets to try and tackle 2001’s ending. All you kiddie-winkies who now like your scifi as “mindbending” as Interstellar, have a wrestle with Grandpa. 😎
Bryan Tuck
I dunno; I feel like the director's cut preserves a little more of the mystery. The theatrical reveals a little too much too soon. That said, the director's cut also adds a bunch of extra footage that I think was wisely cut from the theatrical version. The theatrical is definitely paced better, IMO.
Bryan Tuck
They do deal with some similar themes. But I'm sure the first Matrix's script was already written well before Dark City came out. Incidentally, there are two versions of Dark City out there, and you'll probably get differing opinions on which is one is better for a first-time viewer. Personally, I feel like the director's cut fixes one flaw from the theatrical version, but it also adds about 10 minutes of footage that's not really necessary. So it's kind of a toss-up for me. :)
Jeremy Bassi
God I hope Starship Troopers wins. If you're thinking about starting Godzilla for the Japanese films, I recommend Shin Godzilla or Godzilla Minus One, which will be on Amazon Prime starting on May 3rd. Both are standalone films so you don't need any prior knowledge about the other movies.
Mark Ventura
Voted for Dark city because it's one of my all time faves, but the must watch are Starship troopers, Total recall, Space odyssey, and Minority report. You know it's a good list if it has more than one PKD movie.
Jordan Love
Dark City has a director's cut that many people prefer. A lot of audiences were too confused so the director's cut is a little more direct, so to speak. Frankly I prefer a movie that makes me think more, but I'm often in the minority. In the same vein, I recommend Forbidden Planet (1956), Krull (1983), Dredd (2012) and Heartbeeps (1981).
Dan
So many good ones here, but The Abyss is a lifetime must-see. No other movie has ever, or will ever, go to the lengths James Cameron went to in order to make this underwater epic. And that's probably a good thing, since so many people nearly died making it, including Ed Harris, who is so traumatized that he refuses to talk about it. But it's an amazing movie, and it's way too underrated.
Jonathan Strahan
The Total Recall remake a 'good movie'? Uhh...no. Not good. Poor to fair, at best. The original? Very good.
Calvin Kopp
Please react to Dune Part 2. It’s easily one of the best sci fiction film in history alongside Part 1. If you’ve watched Part 1, then you need to watch Part 2 to complete the story that’s spilt from the book.
Jordan Love
There wouldn't have been enough time for Dark City to have inspired The Matrix.
Richard Lowe (The Writing King)
And don't forget the remake of Total Recall. it's also a good movie, although very different from the 1990s version.
VKunia
Unfortunately I've seen it already 😭😭 I wish I could rewatch it for the first time again, but thank you for the awesome recommendation Mathieu:)
AC5555
Doubt it will win but so cool to see Solaris on here. I would also recommend THX-1138
Richard Lowe (The Writing King)
Dark City is rumored to have inspired the Matrix movies. You should watch it.
AkiraScroll
They Live is so good. On so many levels.
Tom W.
Lot's of excellent choices
Mathieu Paquin
Arrival (2016) from Denis Villeneuve is a must watch please!!
