Watching this film literally makes me feel like I've OD'd on candy, and I'm diabetic. Will Ferrell's character "Buddy" is excessively obnoxious and immature, making the movie feel more like a kids' film than a mature comedy. It's predictable, and the romantic storyline is weak. The overall tone is too saccharine and lacks depth. Buddy's exaggerated elf behavior is grating and not funny, with too many slapstick moments that wear thin quickly. There's an abundance of childish jokes like burping, farting, and crude gags, which are mind numbingly cringe due to the sheer quantity. The story is as if a toddler wrote it; it's too convenient, with Buddy's sudden acceptance into the adult world despite his childish behavior. The romance between Buddy and Jovie (Zooey Deschanel) is forced and lacks chemistry.

Rude! This is easily one of the best Christmas movies of all time! I prefer Jingle All The Way, but Elf is not far behind!
