I think the reason no one wants to see "Last Action Hero" is that it's a satire. Defined as: "Satire is the art of making someone or something look ridiculous, raising laughter in order to embarrass, humble, or discredit its targets.". Sadly, people today are afraid or offended so easily that no one wants to admit something is funny. The whole film is making fun of ones self, namely Arnold and all his other film's. So what, let him if it's entertaining. That's how bad times are. You can't even make fun of yourself. But, lets all watch a cartoon and be "safe". Just my thought's on the poll. Sorry if anyone is offended by them.

The vitriolic hate for it kinda confuses me. I understand not being into it, but jimminy Christmas. Sure it's pissing on Lethal Weapon (has same writer) and Die Hard (has same director) and Arnold Schwarzenegger films (no connection I'm aware of ) but its soooo damned fun!!! And what movie lover doesn't dream of...well, this? Plus the cliche, but *disturbing* 3rd act turn ("Take his shoes??...") when the bad guy learns and gets the upper hand! He sums up what a badass bad guy he truly is: "If God were a villain..."

I think LAH would do *really* well if released today. That campy/silly subvert-the-reality layers stuff hits different now. *I* really liked it. :::shrug:::

I voted for Last Action Hero but figured Jumanji would win. LAH was such an underrated movie. I think it was ahead of it's time and people didn't get it yet- but I think it would do really well (much better than its original release) if it were released now.

aha I like seeing 'Jumanji' do well, I voted for 'Arrival', but it's so nostalgic! You'll definitely need to watch 'Arrival' in the future tho, its great!

last action hero is one of those guilty pleasure types of movies, where it is widely accepted by critics and viewers to be bad, but even bad movies have people who enjoy them, We all have at least one. though LAH is near the bottom of my arnie films. I have enjoyed watch other reactions to it where i don't have to watch the whole thing. Jumanji and Kung fu panda are my picks.

I am really hoping for J to get into the Jumanji series and you really need to start with the Robin Williams film, you appreciated somethings in the rock films more i think if you see the original first.

I *think* the hate comes from the notion that the movie is making fun of the audience, which it is somewhat. Being a Brechtian joke...it removes your immersion (the comfort of distraction) while insulting what you love, and all at merely a dad-joke level. (And Danny does kinda suck, tbf). Thats a lot of eye-rolling triggers, and the movie (wonderfully) JUST pushes all that over a cliff, exploding. Literally, as you know Blank. I like laughing at myself and dad-jokes. I like magicians because child-like wonder 👍 and/or appreciating the skill necessary for a silly fake out 👍. Bet haters of this movie hate magicians too. They're not wrong to like or hate whatever...but I bet a nickel JL digs magicians. 🤗

Roadhouse. So bad it's good. My grandmother was in love with Patrick Swayze and I remember watching this movie for the first time with her, maybe when I was 10. It was not fun seeing Patrick's bare ass on the screen with my 70 year old grandma sitting next to me. Memories.

Last Action Hero is a top 5 Arnold movie for me. I've never understood the hate for it, but greatness is often misunderstood. LoL No chance J hates it. I know J. He'll love every second of it, especially now that he's seen enough of Ah-nold to get context.

I understand that response. It's a love or hate flick, and certainly not a piece of artfully crafted cinema. I find it silly and charming and fun. I'm only saying J *will* STFU a lot, even if he hates it too - which he might? It would be entertaining to watch him watch it whichever way it cuts. (He'd definitely enjoy KFP, I definitely agree.) ✌️

Last Action Hero is so bad, but anyway. Arrival would be great (honestly this is one of my picks from the last decade), or Jumanji OG 'cos I haven't seen it in 20? years! I own them all apart from Road House so don't care. Can't wait to see your new place!
