I love this movie. 1 of my favorites, no matter how many times I see it it never fails to give me goosebumps and makes me feel good. 1. For more of the great Rene Russo watch Get Shorty. Also has John Travolta, Gene Hackman, Danny Devito, Dennis Farina. 2. Randy Quaid (Uncle Eddie) is in the sequel Major League 2 3. Bob Uecker, the teams announcer, was himself a professional baseball player (catcher) for the Milwakuee Braves,Cardinals, Phillies, and Atl Braves. He was in a series of popular Miller Light ads in the 80s, and played the father in the sitcom Mr Belvedere which ran from 1985-1990.

It's showing the decline of the city as a comparison to the decline of the baseball team, highlighting/emphasizing why she wants to leave town. The song is by Randy Newman, who is always doing songs like that. He has one about midgets as well as one about nuking the whole world (except Australia. Don't want to hurt no kangaroos). It's meant as a more of a joke type song, which is why it tries to highlight the idea of their river repeatedly catching fire as some wonderful event. So, he has an eclectic style. Also is in some Toy Story movies.
