So I've always been entertained by the idea that Andy is a low level crew member aboard the Enterprise who struggles with the trauma of their adventures. I mean, mind rape, alien encounters, always being shot at, shoddy orders with little explanation.....who wouldn't have a rough time. It would make sense to me that he would frequent Deanna Troi as ships counselor looking for help and guidance. I could see her building a holo deck program where Andy could vent his frustrations in a safe space by "podcasting" and that Matt is simply an advanced hologram that is a therapeutic program designed to help Andy cope.
In an alternate universe, you guys do podcasts on the Star Trek spinoffs "The Further Adventures of Kid Ro" and "The Countess & The Criminal".
