I know this isn’t a Discovery episode. But since the topic of Michael’s emotional state came up, I want to bring up my personal theory. My theory is that she never learned how to truly deal with her emotions on Vulcan but just repressed them because that was the Vulcan thing to do. Now she is no longer around Vulcans 24/7 so she is allowing her emotions to “be free” with out the society pressure. Since she never learned how to manage them, she loses control and has the emotional intelligence of a child.
