Hey Asher! I think this is a solid theory, but I recently diagnosed WORF as being a victim of anxiety because of how he snaps at people and constantly feels they're all in danger (he snaps out of fear). And in fairness, it does seem like Data's setting healthy boundaries in that scene. But it could be anxiety!
I have an addendum to Andy's long-standing theory about Data having feelings: Data has anxiety! As someone who struggles with anxiety brought about by co-dependency and being a people pleaser, I strongly identified with Data's "I'm sorry if I have ended our friendship" plea in the scene with Worf. One of the traits of co-dependency is thinking that your job is to always make your friends happy, and enforcing any boundary triggers immediate anxiety that you have alienated them. And we usually catastrophize the conversation in our heads just as Data does. Full credit to Worf for acknowledging that friendship is a two-way street and that he was in the wrong. Good friends want to know when they've overstepped.
