Basically, the political situation in France is tense. Like, there's the President, and there are about 500 deputies, who make up the government, and each can vote yes or no, for such or such law (simplified version) And as the President was unsatisfied with the results of the European elections, literally the same evening of it, he announced, like "I dissolve the deputies of the government, f*ck off". This is historic. The last time this happened was in 1997. And the vote to elect the new deputies is today. The first round is today, and the second round on 7 July. The problem is that the far right, racist, misogynist, homophobic, transphobic, anti-Semitic, fascist, and of course fully capitalistic, as everything is linked, has never been so close to power. For 20 years now, billionaires have owned the media and paid them to literally spread propaganda everyday on TV, to change people's minds and get them to vote far right. So the situation was already tense. And after this announcement, against this, all the left-wing parties allied themselves into a single party, to gather more votes and give us a small chance of winning. But nobody knows what will happen. Between now and the end of the month, if the far right win, some of the people I know, gay, transgender, from ethnic minorities, or simply left-wing, could go to prison, or be beaten up by neo-N#zi groups, clearly linked to the far right, or at least, lose some of their rights, at least. But nobody knows what will happen. So this is tense. Basically. P.S. : Oh, actually it wasn't that much random. I guess you see who is Mark Ruffalo ? Today, 03/07/2024, he made a tweet about it, and about the current situation. And oh, it was in response to an article in The Guardian. Anyway ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
