Brat is so complex, before it was released charli stated that she wanted the album to be more of a gossip/text vibe. Saying she wanted the lyrics and that the album is just how she would text her friends, honest and real. ‘Girl, so confusing’ is about Lorde, but it’s not anything too crazy and it’s mainly the industry and public perception that caused the rift between them. But they worked it out on a remix. ‘So I’ is about Sophie, Charli’s longterm collaborator, producer and friend. Sophie sadly passed in 2021 falling off a roof trying to look at the moon in Athens. anytime she mentions George she’s referring to George Daniels, her now fiancée and band member of ‘The 1975’

I might be completely wrong but it seems a lot of people seem to think Sympathy is a knife is about Taylor. George, Charli's bf is a member of the 1975 so the whole thing about "I don't want to see her backstage at my boyfriend's show" and "I hope they break up quick" is probably a jab at Taylor's short lived relationship with Matt Healy. Both Taylor and Charli have been part of the industry for quite some time and I'm sure they've had multiple interactions so this is Charli saying how she feels comparing herself with basically THE it girl and how that's detrimental to her mental health. This of course is not a diss track what so ever and it's just about her comparing herself to someone successful in her playing field that's totally different from her music and personality-wise ("I'm opposite I'm on the other side") thank you for coming to my Ted talk

So I is my favorite. unfortunately her friend SOPHIE who she mentioned in club classics passed away tragically. She was an icon. My best friend just passed away so I relate to this song.
