I can say this now because Danny isn’t coming back to this show so it isn’t a spoiler. Soma has the largest loss record of every character in this show and it’s well documented by soma himself because part of Somas character is any time he sees a failure he learns from it it doesn’t even have to be his own. Also Soma’s arrogance comes from the fact he hasn’t met even the top 50% of students by this point along with not knowing and not caring about the reputation or history of anything related to the school it’s a repetitive note that soma will challenge kings and gods of cooking simply because he doesn’t know and doesn’t care to learn who exactly the person he is challenging is until he is actively competing directly against them.

The little trick Megumi is doing is really common in Japan, a little similar to the idea of picturing people in their underwear when you’re nervous about public speaking. It doesn’t translate well but is p common.

Yes, Im aware of that. Honestly I realized I was wrong shortly after I wrote that because they all go on about being first years. I forgot Sōma was a middle school transfer student that’s why Megumi was already there lol. At first her getting bad grades made me assume she was older because she had been there before Soma, but I was wrong :)

Totally just realized that the blue haired girl is in high school. The flashback with her on the train she was 13 but she was holding a form saying she was about to be expelled and then said it was her first year of high school . That confuse me so bad because Soma is like 15 in middle school and then she was supposed to be 13 in high school. I had to rewatch it.
