$6 for a macaroon is pretty much the usual, but I'm in Canada. Also, I feel you on tomatoes and eggs. I don't know what it is, but adding tomatoes, or even cheese, to my eggs just ruins it for me? I can't stand it, which is wild with how much I explore food in general. But not to throw shade on tomatoes, or cheese, because I do LOVE both. Just not with eggs.

so turns out the reason Macaroons are so expensive isn't because they are filling (because that isn't how pricing works) but because they are a combination of difficult actual creation and expensive ingredients used in making them essentially they are a difficult to make high quality item and so extra expensive
