The reason JJK blew up was due to similarity it takes a lot of inspiration from bleach and the other big 3 anime meaning it’s close enough that it leached off those fan bases after that it was really just Gojo carrying and stellar fight animation. This show is good but it’s not close enough to anything to get an initial boost the closest is ultramarine Magmell and that didn’t get a large audience

The insect poison thing is referring to "Gu" which is the concept of putting a bunch of venomous insects into a pot together and the one remaining (in the concept) has become adapted to and "infused"/adapted the poison and has become the "apex" [as in the least likely to succumb to the poison and the most able weaponize the venom]. A manwha "The Reaper" (aka death god of the drifting moon) is a super pretty series that includes this concept + a good explanation of the concept

I love that you like one of my favourite anime. Gabimaru is my baby. Out of the dark trio he's my favourite main character. Also with Saigiri this show has the best female protagonist in my opinion. Her development throughout the show is incredible.

also, the thing about the poison bugs was not really a metaphor it was just actually how they made poison back then, they believed that if you put a ton of different venomous bugs in a pot and let them duke it out for a few days the surviving insects would have absorbed the toxins and become even more venomous
