AltStore 1.6b1: iOS 16, Lock Screen Widget, and Error Logs OH MY!

We hope you're all having as much fun as we are customizing your lock screen! And if you want to give yours just a dash of sideloading, this beta release includes our new AltStore lock screen widget so that you can easily track your refreshes ♻️. We designed this widget to fit right in with all your other fun widget - with just a touch of branding for fun - so we hope you all make the most of it :)
Now, we really wanted to give you something more in this release, which is why we have also been working on a new Error Log screen to hopefully make troubleshooting your issues much easier! AltStore will now keep a record of your error messages allowing you to reference them at any time and find helpful solutions quicker. Not only this, but you can now tap on any error message and select “Search FAQ,” which will automatically take you to our Error Codes page for more detailed information. This beta is the first part of an ongoing process to reengineer error messages and troubleshooting for both AltStore and AltServer to make them more helpful, so we appreciate your patience as we build out a more robust system 🏗

Hey Everyone! The reason for no attachment is because there is no update to AltServer this round, and we didn't want to confuse anyone by adding it still. Going forward, it's clear we need some install instructions with the posts to make it clear what attachments are there (or not). And we apologize for not replying on these posts, we mostly save that for twitter/discord/patreon inbox where it's a better forum for support, but we should still respond here as well. We'll do better going forward!

And yes, I understand the point of donating to the project. My point is that if they are making $12,162/month from us on Patreon (I just checked), which is almost $150k/year, I don't think it's a hard ask for them to be a bit more engaged in the posts here. People have brought up questions, issues, etc. and not once, in years, have I ever seen them reply to a single one. Again, I appreciate the work they do and they have an amazing app. But if we are basically funding the project and paying their salaries, the least they can do is stop by once in a while for a few minutes to answer some questions. I don't think that's a hard ask.

It would be nice if the beta server software could support auto updates, but that has never worked for me. On the contrary, it always prompts to try and download/install the non-beta. So it would be nice if they could fix that.

I get the same, but it's in an iPad Pro from last year. It might be related to iOS 16 or 16.1 (or the betas, if you also have it)

The point of donating, by the way, is supporting them. One would think this is obvious but maybe it bears repeating. You donate, you're closer to the developers and help them continue developing because you benefit from altstore existing.

If they didn't change anything in the server there might just be the client. The server could update itself as well (or prompt for it), if they wanted to too.

Thanks, that worked (updating the app inside itself on my iPad). Still, I assume that there should be an updated server side app too, which can't update itself (to a beta). While I definitely love AltStore and am happy to support it through Patreon, I have to say that it is extremely disappointing the apathetic approach the devs have to us here. If people are willing to pay them money for their work, the least they could do is remember to attach files to posts and maybe respond to people here that ask questions or report issues, instead of leaving it up to us to figure it out. I've never seen them once respond to any question/issue posted on Patreon. At this point, I question what the point of donating is.

So if you have the beta downloaded already it will automatically give you the option to update within the Altstore app

somehow I'm having issues after updating the altstore and altserver after trying to activate a new iPhone 14 pro. It says it has issue with the persistent migration

What do you mean? I've been running AltServer on my Apple Silicon Mac for over a year. And it is running as a native app.

I'm running 1.5.1b and it works fine for me on iPadOS 16.1 Beta, so I assume it will work fine on iOS 16.
