The massive wooden structure stood beside the garden quadrant where I'd integrated it, its sixty-foot height rising majestically near the Genesis Seed that dominated the center of my inner world.
Similar to the Genesis Seed, the Realm Stabilizing Tree’s roots spread throughout all four quadrants, while its branches seemed to support the very fabric of my dimensional pocket alongside the Genesis Seed's stabilizing influence.
"Feel its roots, its trunk, its branches as extensions of your own spiritual body," I murmured, repeating the scroll's instruction. "The tree is not separate from me; it is part of my cultivated reality."
At first, the connection felt distant and abstract, like trying to sense a limb that had fallen asleep. But as I deepened my meditation, something began to shift. The tree's presence became more immediate, more personal.
I could feel the slow circulation of spiritual essence through its trunk, the way its roots drew energy from my inner world's soil, the gentle swaying of its branches in response to the dual suns' energy cycles.
"There," Azure said softly, apparently sensing my progress. "You're establishing the connection. Now try channeling essence from the roots through your meridians."
I visualized drawing energy from the tree's massive root system, pulling it up through the trunk and into my own spiritual pathways. The sensation was strange, like drinking liquid starlight that tasted of ancient wood and crystallized time.
The essence flowed through my meridians with surprising ease, gathering in my hands as a warm, tingling presence. When I opened my eyes and looked down at my palms, I could see faint silver veins of light running beneath my skin.

I extended my hands toward the rich soil in front of me, focusing on creating something small and manageable. A single branch, maybe the size of my forearm, manifesting in the space between my palms.
I shaped the tree's essence like I would any other qi construct, molding the silver energy into the form of a branch using the same techniques I'd mastered for my plant manipulation abilities. The energy responded to my will, taking on the rough shape I wanted.
But when I tried to solidify the construct, it simply dispersed into wisps of silver light that faded within seconds.

That was true. Everything gets easier with practice. I just needed to continue practising.
"Master," Azure said thoughtfully, "perhaps you're approaching this like a standard qi technique when it's something fundamentally different."
I paused, considering his words. The scroll had emphasized that this wasn't about creating qi constructs shaped like wood, it was about manifesting reflections of the actual tree. Maybe I was thinking about the problem wrong.
"The scroll mentioned creating a reflection," I said slowly. "What if I'm not supposed to mold the essence into the shape I want? What if I need to... copy the tree's actual structure somehow?"
For my third attempt, I changed my approach entirely. Instead of trying to shape the silver essence with my will, I focused on the actual branch structure of my inner world's tree. I studied the way the wood grain flowed, the precise angles where smaller branches split from larger ones, the exact texture and density of the bark.
Then, rather than molding energy, I tried to create an exact duplicate of one specific branch in the space before me, using the tree's essence as a kind of spiritual blueprint.
This time, when the air began to shimmer, something felt different. The manifestation process was more complex, like the essence was referencing something rather than simply being shaped. Slowly, gradually, translucent wood began to coalesce in the space I'd designated.

"Indeed, Master. And as your mastery improves, you'll likely be able to maintain manifestations for longer periods with less spiritual essence drain."
I picked up the scroll again, curiosity getting the better of me. I'd focused entirely on the defensive applications so far, but surely there had to be some offensive techniques mentioned somewhere in the advanced sections.

Despite not having mastered the full scope of the technique, I felt quite satisfied.

I'd gone from complete failure to successfully manifesting stable defensive structures that could neutralize qi-based attacks. That was more advancement in one technique than I typically managed in a week when I didn’t have the help of a time dilation chamber, or in my case, a time dilation world.
"I should head back," I said, standing up and brushing soil from my robes. "I want to get some rest before my spar with Liu Chang tomorrow. It'll be interesting to see how this defensive technique performs in actual combat."

I dont think that throwing a stick at someone will do much to cultivators who spend their entire lives studying combat

Gamer in me had a thought, bet with his connection to death envy inner world he could potentially farm the realm stabilising trees. Depending on the envy daos self awareness. With the original cultivator dead the dao should be dumb enough to fight him repeatedly so long as he can trigger the " envy avitar". Great strategy for gaming the system tho not so usefull narratively. Fun to think about tho

If I'm remembering right he learned a red rune that can turn his arms into vines/ tree branches, would be a good candidate to combine with the word thee manifestation technique to make the gauntlets, although he only studied and memorised the rune, still didn't scribed it yet

I remember the starhaven realms world trees each having a name and specific purpose in the realm. So what will be ke yins stabilization trees purpose? It’s made of a death realms body so will it act as a conduit for death essence to be absorbed and recycled or will it have more to do with the dao of envy? On another note I came up with more ways the essence fish might change. As they diversify some will settle into more muddy environments, where earth essence mixes with the water, and when the divide they could absorb the earth essence and become catfish/mudskipper like. Others might find themselves at the bottom of a waterfall and through trying to climb it interact with air essence and develop wings from there fins become flying fish. Then over time as they find concentrations of other elements as they venture away from the pure water they’ll evolve even faster. The catfish could develop a symbiotic relationship with specific microorganisms to better absorb the decaying matter in the mud whilst the mud skipper might learn to search for isolated pools away from the other fish.

Ke yin has become the ultimate grass type pokemon....could he use Senbonzakura Kageyosh? Wait he still only use his fists and qi techniques right? So what if we was able to "grow" Gauntlets with the partial manifestations as well? Or any other weapons he could use to get familiar with, like sticks as daggers, branches as swords, roots as whips..?
