Why was the heart demon talking about Hou as if he is a different person that the MC stole the body from? Didn't the tournament reincarnate them to that world, meaning that there was never another Hou?

Ultimately it was only a reflection, there was never any real substance to it. Sure it could take over his body if he let it, but once he committed to fighting there was no other outcome that could happen.
