Early Release for Saw V (link may change)
🕑 Added 2018-05-17 17:39:08 +0000 UTC Hi all! If you were in the editing livestream yesterday you got to witness my real-time reaction to seeing Lionsgate copyright claim ALL of my Saw videos. I've reached out to Lionsgate to try to fix this, but if it doesn't get resolved I may not be able to finish the series. That being said, I was far enough along on Saw V that I decided to just finish the video and post it as regular, and hope that it doesn't get claimed right away. That'll happen tomorrow (YouTube willing, with the manual review) but in the meantime you can have this early release! Enjoy!

We'll totally understand too if you need to take a break from this series to work on something else, given that you need something to benefit for your time. I'm sure we'll enjoy anything you give us. As for what could help with this copyright nonsense, I actually have a few ideas that might help. Now, I know this is a long shot, but have you ever considered covering horror games? The advantage there is that most gaming companies WANT coverage of their products on channels like this, so you won't run into the same problem. Plus it might be fun to go through some horror games for the highlights, though I imagine the format might be different. I'm also a big fan of ranking videos (as I imagine many others are) so if you were to rank other items from these series, such as goriest kill, funniest, worst, etc., you might be able to avoid the copyright notice since you'll be using limited content instead of the majority of the footage. My last idea is simply concerning horror effects. I've always wondered how certain kill effects were possible. If you could explain these, show maybe a clip of them being used then go into details with simple graphics or otherwise, people would love to see that. Plus it fits right into the audience. Like when you mentioned the iconic kill from Friday the 13th with Kevin Bacon, I wanted to know more about it. Could tie in nicely with other videos. Sorry I'm rambling, I tend to do that. Regardless, can't wait for your future videos, hope things work out with YouTube and all!

Surely this comes under fair use, over channels post the whole film but just cause it’s at a higher audio pitch it beats the system some how

Man I really hope this shit work out for ya James, copyright bullshit is so annoying. I'd hate it if my name was on the kill count that ended the saw series from corporate fuckery. Good luck man, love seeing your work pop up every week. Especially since I've really begun to enjoy horror a lot lately. Take it easy and don't forget to take time to breathe.

That's such a shame, you won't be able to finish more than likely : / ...but it's totally understandable. You gotta live man, so I totally get having to do what you have to do. I really hope Final Destination does not get copyright claimed :(

It's nice to know that now when I get home from college I get to enjoy a great kill count

Man, It feels like such BS with all this copyright claim stuff. I's sorry this is happening to you, James.

It blows my mind how difficult this series in particular has been for you. I appreciate everything you do man, but goddamn this is rough. The effort you put in to your work is easily under fair use, obviously, unlike other channels who just upload the scenes with no effort.

Hope it all ends well at least, I can't imagine how stressful it must be

With this particular issue, the culprit is Lionsgate. I'm constantly fighting two fires - one, the YouTube side, is all the age-restricted / monetization / manual review stuff. On the other side are all the studios and their copyright claims. It's a neverending headache, lol

Dammit YouTube let James catch a break!

Got an exam tomorrow so this is my stress relief, might have to watch every single kill count for the next week, to get rid of exam stress.
