This movie was so lame, yeah. I did really enjoy the mean girl though, she gave me very big shades of Kimberlin Brown aka Sheila Carter on Young & the Restless/Bold & the Beautiful. The actress even bares a pretty big resemblance to her. Melissa was also enjoyable, and the nutty mom was fun outside of the weird growling stuff. Definitely was a big disappointment (and way too god damn long) after the original Fear Street trilogy!

I find myself agreeing with James on a lot about this movie, but on other things not at all 😂 I agree that the movie did a terrible job at seeming like the '80s as well as being super basic and boring. However, I did not love the previous trilogy, so I didn't really think the absence of Janiak changed much for me. Also the kills here left me really disappointed after what we got in the previous three films. IDK if its just because I watched it in the dark without my glasses on, but the gore looked not the best.

Some of the line delivery in this movie was rough and the last act was a mess but some of the kills were gnarly . The kill count was better than the movie itself.

The prom dresses are the weirdest thing for me. This was the easiest way to date the film to the eighties but none of the dresses went for that stereotypical style.

Gotta say, I love James and Chelsea’s relationship. Obviously we don’t know anything aside from their public persona (kill count, podcast, livestreams etc). But from what we do witness, it seems very healthy and is honestly inspiring to see a couple with such commonality in their interests. I’ve strived my whole life to find someone who loves my interests too but it’s never worked out cause I’m into very nerdy stuff 😅

Glad I'm not the only one who picked up on Deadly Premonition vibes with the killer in this. I couldn't find any specifics of them saying Deadly Premonition had any influence on it, but it feels too perfect when the game has a red raincoat wearing killer wielding an axe.
