with regard to the splaser: it actually fires a short hose of damage and if you're quick enough you can spray down multiple enemies with it, unfortunately this doesn't do as much damage as the full blast, so it's rarely useful Edit: just checked halopedia, this isn't true in halo 3 or odst, it only applies in reach
