Original "Something Series" Concept Art V1 (Production Insights #3)
🕑 Added 2022-04-26 11:01:01 +0000 UTCBack in August 2017, I made a post about a new series I was working on. I called it "Something Simple."
Each video was going to be a grayscaled, unpolished animatic in a very simple style with a certain gimmick that I won't say here.
The original version was going to be about a knight and a wizard, and there was another version about 3 space travelers going on an adventure (I'm not sure I ever posted the concept art for that one now that I think of it).
I spent a lot of time thinking of my own simple series to start on Youtube and the idea went through a lot of iterations until I came to the Something Series we know today!

Would be interesting to see these guys in a Something About vid! (No really considering your “parallel universes” lore) :)

"F-stop" was a mechanic Valve had originally done for Portal 2; at the time all they said was that it wasn't the portal gun. But they eventually realized that not having portals in "Portal" 2 didn't make sense, so they shelved it and wouldn't say anymore for a decade. We finally learned what it was last year: a photo-taking mechanic, where you take a photo of one thing and can manipulate the photo then alter the environment or extract an object from the manipulated photo. I was trying to make a coy joke based on that and them being so secretive about it for so long. :P

I'm not sure what you mean by F-Stop (:

I'd 100% be down to watch whatever you throw out.

Was that "certain gimmick" F-stop per chance? (Oh hey a Something About Portal would be neat~)

Honestly with a bit of tweaking you could reuse these designs for Somethint About Final Fantasy. They do give off that vibe after all.

If you're ever so inclined, and time and resources allow, I'd be interested in seeing Something About these characters, even as just a one-off. It'd be interesting to get a glimpse of what might have been, not to mention how you today would tackle a concept of yesteryear.

That’s cool! It’s great to see how far you’ve come. Do you think you’ll ever make a series with those characters?

With the black mage looking wizard and the knight, plus the style, I'm kinda getting 8-bit Theatre vibes from these guys.
