Storm Chase May 3rd & Yesterday's Tornadoes
🕑 Added 2024-05-03 15:40:55 +0000 UTCSuper fun chase yesterday with two tall burritos in the middle of nowhere not hurting anybody (I think).
Above was just outside Balinger Texas. Below was in metropolitan Melvin Texas...

I'd love to edit this footage and publish it, but Mother Nature doesn't seem to be giving us a break. This morning my forecast is in synch with the SPC's...

I don't think we'll get the boundary interactions today that set the storms off yesterday, but you never really know what's gonna make em pop.
Chasers, please keep in mind that these AM forecasts often change. May 1st was a prime example. The dryline retreated much further back than early models indicated so if time allows, definitely do more mesoanalysis and recheck surface observations after noon.
Good luck today Grinders!

I haven’t heard any bad news. Hope it stays that way.

I was at the Allsups when the funnel started. Wish you could have seen your home team tornado.

Google maps foiled my pursuit, so I was never near the boomerang. Got a far away tornado after. Nighty night

The deviant motion.... this should be a case study! Took screenshots as often as i could.

The tornado near Robert Lee is literally doing a U-turn.

Had the same 180 degree turn north as well.

The radar signature of the Robert Lee storm reminds me a lot of that one in SW Oklahoma a few days ago. Seems to have occluded but not lost strength. Looks like a hurricane!!

Big tornado on the ground, headed towards San Angelo and another barreling into Plainview.

This storm in Robert Lee looks very dangerous for chasers. Please stay safe out there. Looks like it's about to change direction. 🙏

Good luck Hank. Busy year so far

Glad to hear that y’all are seeing some great activity and for the most part, humans have managed to be out of the way of the destructive forces. Prayers to those families who’ve suffered fatalities and injuries. I just wish these tornadoes would drop down away from populated areas, like the Nebraska ones did last season.
