STORM CHASE? APRIL 9 & Another Recent Event
🕑 Added 2024-04-09 14:41:33 +0000 UTCI hope everyone had a good time yesterday. My cousin Spencer got clouded in in the Texas Hill Country but was amazed by the falling darkness and animal behavior. We raced clouds from 4:30 AM until 1:30PM finding clear blue skies in Arkansas just before totality. Looking forward to the next one.
TODAY is complicated and messy. We have Target A, the potential later-day clean pops out west, or B the (very close) messy, higher probs for a significant tornado in trees and much less driving for tomorrow's SigTor event. I'm gonna sit a couple more hours and see if any confidence where to go bubbles up.

Only just ‘patreoned’ so very late reply. I was over from the UK for the eclipse and kinda got sucked into staying in Hillsboro TX for three days. Nailed the diamond ring and then headed south and got caught up in this storm. Turns out I was minutes from you when I took this near Giddings, TX. Sad I didn’t bump into you. https://www.instagram.com/p/C-KXq5osw3U/?igsh=MTdjYWx1cjBrbnRlbQ==

Storms had some good lightning. Sitting out Todays messy modes in the Deep South.

If you're still there I recommend Loro for a bite... The most amazing Asian smokehouse BBQ joint I've ever been to... Guarantee you won't be disappointed... A little bit on the south side off Lamar

Sitting in Austin.

That low seems pretty happy out West right now, but see signs of it starting to move East. Looks like the late afternoon storms are starting to pop, so fingers crossed yo will get to position just as they start up.

Heading to around the same area after seeing how low the low level shear was in central Texas, best chances of tornadoes would be over towards that way. In Waco Texas hoping that this bet pays off!! Goodluck Hank!

Heading to A. Nudging it ease a bit.

That’s awesome! Love it when plans actually work in your favor, especially when weather is involved.

Somehow my plan to watch from the backyard paid off. Spent all morning setting up the telescope and getting it aligned. The clouds threatened and teased all morning but left for the most part during the show. The telescope was great for viewing but the camera and long lens ruled the day during totality, it was as life changing as you described Hank. Stoved up from setting the scope up, so no chasing today, but good luck Hank, look forward to what you find out there.

Are you planning to Chase tomorrow’s Dixie event? It looks gnarly but I can’t say I feel too bad missing it, that chase terrain really sucks.

What is the time frame on B? i've been trying to figure out at what time of day we are worried about the actual hatched area. but none of the discussions give a good time frame and HRRR seems to suggest it's only a nighttime threat.

Good luck Hank, with whichever choice you make
