MY NEW BOOK & Today's Storm Chase
🕑 Added 2025-06-17 15:51:34 +0000 UTCHello Patrons,
I'm super-excited to announce my new book "Storm." Some of you may have noticed I haven't been uploading much content the last 7 months. The reason is, from December - May I worked every waking hour trying to complete this book by the May 1st deadline. I was still a month late. Published by DK books, Its loaded thick with my most precious storm photos from around the globe. It's got storm stories and chasing tips, but ultimately it's a science book about how these storms work. From pulse storms to supercells and tornadogenesis to tropical cyclones as well as how lightning and TLEs work. With Dr. Anton Seimon, Lightning scientist Tom Warner, and Paul Smith looking over my shoulder, the result is an easy to understand book that's a lot of fun. Anybody who reads this will know more about thunderstorm meteorology than most storm chasers.
I'll be publicly announcing the book Thursday with a new YouTube video, however DK books has granted me permission to announce to you guys today. Here's a "genius link" with sneak peeks where you can preorder a copy from Amazon, Barnes and Noble, or any other outlet of your choice.
TODAY's STORM CHASE is currently looking largely squally in Kansas and vicinity. Perhaps some isolated supercell potential will appear later. Regardless, there should be some pretty lightning opportunities.

I need to get on the road. Thanks everyone for holding up my fort while I disappeared into Lala-writing-land. With your help, we were able to achieve a book about thunderstorms to last through ages.

Hey guys, I’m trying to figure out if my stuff on a FedEx truck was eaten by a tornado. Last seen in New Berlin. WI on 6/19 in transit to Fullerton, CA. I think weather got it but FedEx is being evasive. Package should have landed last week. I really haven’t been paying attention to weather this past week.

Got my copy & recommended to my occupational therapist who wants to know more about tornadoes. I think she will love it.

Gonna have to score me a copy!

I just spit my tea out! "On open roads, if other stormchasers behind me are anxious to pass, I do my best to safely wave them around. This helps pass along courteous driving vibes and increases my chances of capturing viral video of their vehicles getting flung by the tornado." PRICELESS!
