I just learned a friend of mine has synesthesia very similar to what they’re describing. I’m probably going to phrase this the wrong way, but she associates taste with shapes and textures. Like one time she asked her parents to buy “the round butter” and they had no idea what she meant because they only bought butter in sticks. But the butter tasted round to her. There were other examples but I’m blanking on them.

Dr. Pepper is actually meant to taste like how a certain pharmacy smelled. The history of Dr. Pepper is really weird, they've almost definitely changed the recipe since then with all the sugar that's been added but the flavor was fully intended to "taste like a mix of fruity syrup flavor smells mixing together". They've also gone on the record that there is definitively NOT prunes in it, it even says so on their FAQ on their website

candles can sometimes smell different when they're lit, but imagine how much longer they'd have to film if they burned each one to get the smell. I imagine all the smells would just combine too unless they did something like air out the room after burning each one
