I have the same waffle iron and it kinda sucks but I do use it for anything but waffles 😂 frequent lazy grilled cheeses in my waffle iron. Shits a pain to clean though, cant get it wet. Cleaning instructions are "wipe with a damp cloth"

There's a spiral shaped seam running the length of the cardboard can, and it's under pressure from the dough inside. So you hit it, it deforms a bit, rips somewhere along that seam, and the expansion of the dough pops it open

The first two are things I semi regularly do with my waffle iron. But you gotta use mostly defrosted tater tots instead of hash browns.
