I think it's a combination of the smooth deformer and the Thicken. If I place the smooth as a child of the polygon geometry and then apply the thicken it looks better. Not sure why it worked with the hierarchy I showed in the video, maybe something changed between C4D 2024 and 2025

I think the problem made by Smooth deformer, it make the polygons smaller.
