Regarding the Gay Volumes
🕑 Added 2025-06-21 19:53:35 +0000 UTCYou may have noticed that Beat Banger's volume count has been reduced to three. Initially, we had planned to add two extra volumes after one and two to include male/male content. But this presented a dilemma.
Once the game is released publicly on Steam, those interested in only the male/male content will effectively be paying full price for a game they are only half interested in, and still have to play through the first two volumes to access it. Those who are interested in the female/male content exclusively may also feel cheated as they are paying full price for only half the gameplay content.
We've considered things such as making paid DLC, but this would mean that if you're exclusively interested in the male/male content, you'd have to pay extra just because of your sexual preferences. Making it free DLC would cause Beat Banger's release to take far longer than we'd like, and it wouldn't be financially feasible for us to complete in a reasonable amount of time.
Our current plan is to develop a game featuring dedicated male-male content. Early access to this game will be included with the early access Patreon tier.
I apologize for the confusion. We're open to hearing ideas on other ways we could solve this problem.

This wouldn't be financially feasible for us, as we'd essentially be creating a second game without generating any profit from it. We still have to write people's paychecks, and as the potential customer base for Beat Banger gets smaller and smaller. We will eventually experience a sharp decline in sales, and the company will likely go bankrupt, or we'll have to remove some people from the team.

I recognize that making a fluidly-animated game isn't easy. And I further recognize that locking the gay content behind straight content sends entirely the wrong message for the LGBTQ community. And I imagine that re-coding the game to include gay scenes, optional or otherwise, might be a lot easier said than done. Personally, I think there's something to be said for Shika's idea for the A and B routes, depending on the player's orientation. Or including an application screen after the 18+ warning screen, asking if the player is straight, gay, or bi. That way, scenes could be provided during a playthrough as per the player's preference!

Separating the fanbase with two different games of the same style means more work for the team and more inconsistencies for modding and discussions, its understandable to think about them but if all your time will be put into Beat Banger anyway people will be fine to wait for the additional chapters since its already in the pipeline A very simple solution is separate the volumes by different routes that you can explore a A or B route one goes the original way the other Gay Content

Bummer, I remember hearing about a future if the game with m/m officially and (maybe quite stupidly) it was a motivator for me to buy the game itself
