GENERAL UPDATE: Editing & Lovely Distractions
🕑 Added 2022-02-03 17:33:31 +0000 UTC"Tornadoes of 2021" is now whittled down to about 25 minutes. Fellow Patron Celton Henderson has just licensed me his sobering drone documentation of the Dec. 10-11 Kentucky tornado destruction. We've also licensed beautiful tornado footage from fellow Patrons Melonie Metz, Daniel Shaw and Mike Olbinski. I'm proud to be working with these pros and grateful to compensate them for their hard work and dedication with y'alls dough :D. Thanks Guys!
I COULD US SOME HELP locating a high res radar or visible satellite loop of the December 15th upper Midwest Derecho. I'd like to put a blurb in about that as well. If anybody has a good link (Richard?) please post it in our community section here.
Here's a grab from an amazing GOES-16 loop I found for the Dec 10-11 event

The site above has distracted me this morning with a spiral down into its endless and amazing loops. If you have work to be done, beware of this link...
YARD LIZARDS & WEEKEND FREEZE

This is Dino. I've been filming his survival drama for the last year and half including the deep freeze of 2020, dodging cats and mocking birds, all his fights with a Rival male, getting his face scarred and his tail ripped off, and lastly a horrible infestation from two botfly type maggots that bored into his body cavity. He's now an old man and suffers some kind of neurological disorder preventing him to stick to walls as well as before. So, I've been hand feeding him every other day as he resides in the garage trim.

Texas Honky Tonk legend Johnny Falstaff helped me remove the rotten siding on my garage... Finally. We uncovered and captured Dino. He's now warm and safe inside his holding spa that resides next to my computer. Once the freezing weather is behind us, I'll release him back to his favorite corner trim and continue to watch over him.

"Tornadoes of 2021" ETA is Feb 11th.
Stay warm Patrons!
Hank

For everyone else, if you want to become an expert on derecho, visit this webpage. I found it today and nearly fell out of my chair... HOLY COW!!! https://www.spc.noaa.gov/exper/archive/event.php?date=20211215

I don't know if this is helpful, but here's the vid by NASA: https://eoimages.gsfc.nasa.gov/images/imagerecords/149000/149221/conus_geos5_2021350.mp4 This is the website discussing the derecho with some photos by NASA: https://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/images/149221/derecho-sweeps-across-midwest I would presume there's no copyright infringement if you use any of this because NASA allows everyone to their stuff unless a particular image is specifically marked "copyright". Then you have to send NASA email and ask their permission. I've done that when doing research and they always say "yes, go ahead". For their copyright rule, see this link. It's a short paragraph: https://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/image-use-policy

Thanks for the update Hank - seeing Dino and good old Johnny really warmed my heart π₯°
Celton
Thanks for the update and I look forward to hearing more about Dino's survival story. I'm honored to have some of my footage be a part of something like this. Can't wait to see the video as I enjoy my Florida weather which is already back in the 80s lol, yawl stay warm out there.
Eta release date on my birthday ! Happy birthday to me ! πππ

LOL! I hope it helps. That was like a weather trifecta/clash of the titans...lots of snow, Chinook, derecho. When my niece told me it was 70 in Illinois near the Wisconsin border and we were getting pounded by a blizzard, I thought...well, this could be uhhh...' bad'. I really look forward to your perspective.
Really looking forward to the video coming out! It will give me something new to watch instead of just rewatching your older videos

Man, you're hired!
BlueHusky2154
Yes I did. It's a wide shot of the whole thing moving over eastern NE and KS moving into IA and MO. It's also currently in GIF format and it can be converted into a video clip if needed.

That top one is a beautiful winner. Thank you so much.

Heading there next. Can always count on you.

I have lots of close up radarscope loops of tornadic segments, however I need a wide shot of the entire thing. Did you save that?
Brent
This is cool but being an evening event, finding visible bands is difficult. It is dark at night...lol. Hoping VIIRS will have a loop somewhere. It's such a nice visible/IR combo. https://satelliteliaisonblog.com/2021/12/

Hank, I have a Radarscope reflectivity loop of the 12/15 Midwest derecho hitting Omaha, NE. I'd be more than happy to send it to you if you'd like.
Somebody please tell me, is Celtons footage linked? I don't know what to click and really want to see it. Or is that a teaser?
