GLOBE TROTTING COMMENCING
🕑 Added 2023-08-16 17:17:42 +0000 UTC30 HOUR FLIGHT
There's always a chance for Auroras when flying near the Arctic Circle so I'll likely be awake all night prior to our 8 hour layover in Tokyo. The wife and I aim to starve ourselves of plane food so that we can fill our bellies with raw sea creatures there. Then we fly to Bangkok for family and friend reunions.
TARGETS:
- Lightning in Bangkok
- Angkor Wat in Cambodia
- Manta Rays, lightning and Gigantic Jets in the Maldives
- Wild animals, especially cobras!
THE RAINY SEASON
We always go to Thailand in the Dry Season (December) and thus, I never capture any storms. This year is my first time going in the wet season. Higher chance of foiled plans / higher chance of lightning time lapses from skyscrapers, water spouts and cobras. Hell Yes!
YOU NEVER REALLY KNOW exactly what you're gonna score on these exotic trips though. The targets get you out there and then you're almost always blind-sided by some unexpected dreamy phenomena, culture or wild animals. I look forward to sending you guys sneakers peekers of what we see and learn each week.
PRIOR TO THE PANDEMIC I traveled to Darwin Australia for lightning storms and landed in the middle of the "worst lightning season remembered" there. But Mother Nature blew my mind with all these guys... I finally got around to editing this video uploaded to my other YouTube channel last night.
SECRET STORM CHASING TRIP TO THE SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE is now on the books for December. More on where another time, but I'll give you a hint. It ain't Down Under. I'm so excited to be traveling the globe again. Who knows what we'll find?
Monster thanks to you all! Stay cool everyone in the Northern Hemisphere

Dude, the moisture source is the Amazing basin!
Pecos Hank
That could be fun especially with a back stage pass. However If it's not in the wild it doesn't count. we got cobras at the zoo here in Houston. :D

Sounds like a fun trip, gonna take a guess and say the other area is probably Argentina. It has similar geography to traditional tornado alley with a north-south running mountain range with westerly flow going over it with a moisture source to the east and somewhat flat terrain between for mid latitude cyclones to traverse. Its one of those magic places on Earth where it all comes together. Although the supercells there will be backwards lol.

I know touristy stuff is against the grain, but this place is well within your circle....my kids and I were there 10 years ago and it was quite an experience...no shortage of cobras! They extract venom here for anti-venom applications.... https://www.saovabha.org/service_saovabha/Snake-Farm-Mission
