Fred Hersch| Pretty Girl

Fred Hersch's musicality might seem familiar or common at first glance, but as I transcribe his music, I keep discovering how incredibly complex his rhythm and flow is. He often displaces strongbeats, inflates melodic contours, and maximizes reharmonization. As I transcribed, the downbeat sometimes got lost in this advanced rhythmic game Fred plays. These features are more pronounced in some of his other works which I will be publishing later. Stay tuned for more!

Thanks Timothy. I'm discovering a lot of different artists and music because of your transcriptions and Fred is definitely among my favorites now. I also really loved his version of Cole Porter's "So In Love".
