Glad to hear it! I do try to write my climaxes to have an impact like that, so it's good when it lands. After being a major focus this book, Nauda takes a bit of a backseat next book, but I hope you'll enjoy her travels on Slest. There's a lot being set up there as well that will have long term ramifications.

I waited to binge all the last few chapters and boy am I glad I did. Bundled as a package they had a glorious impact and were just about everything i hoped for. Isaak got the unimportant inglorious death he deserved. We get enough understanding of slescan culture to be intrigued while the brewing conflict plot gets more or less resolved. Nauda finally opened up officially about her past, which had been foreshadowed well. And got her hero moment that suited her. The whole cast got to show off their prowess but Theo being a complete badass and almost singlehandedly driving off the army was awesome and takes the cake. Theo also acknowledged that his friends have changed him and the edges of his bitterness have been worn away. Fiyu finally reunited, and most of our plot threads have been resolved with hints of their future implications. The upcoming personal adventures of Theo and fiyu have my interest piqued, and we have a new plot hook of potential problems for Theo. My only concern is I'm not sure what nauda is going to be getting up to as beetle minder. If there was one thing absent that I had hoped to see, is some conversation between guchiro and Theo on soulcrafting blueprints. All in all, excellent resolution that leaves me looking forward to the next book.

I believe it was Nadua that was accused by this group of being an outsider. It seems possible that for some reason her body is registering as extremely young.

Gotta be a pure magic thing. Cantae cycles frequently, but trace spiritual elements don't necessarily.

Sarah Lin

New. Some of the epilogues will be brand new POVs.

How in the hell can they determine the age of biological beings if all our component matter cycles out within 7 years? Is this a Ship of Theseus thing? Anyway, that was a good ending to the book. It was pretty amusing to see a stereotypical 'hero' go through the motions of getting captured and escaping as window dressing for the real threat to the actual heroes. Meta in a good way.

Is Mihul a new character? or did I forget when they were introduced?

They get new bodies - interesting but ultimately not important, the getting new minds suggestion is what could make people wary about them but also lacks any proof beyond "if the bodies are new, who knows whether their memories are true". Similar for demons a correlation says little about why there is one. Still this is likely to be trouble.

I mean, a bit of truth goes a long way in crafting a narrative, and that can be part of the trap, so if the bit about demons is true that makes me wonder: Is that Vistgil's actual purpose in seeking to control and develop outsiders? Is he basically a demon farmer, helping his pawns advance in order to use the demons that correspond to their existence and power level in some way?

Sarah Lin

Thanks for your support! Yes, it's definitely different following chapter by chapter. I like how it allows the community time to discuss, but since I try to write as books instead of serials, I think the pacing suffers a bit.

Thanks for all the early chapters. This was my first experience reading only two chapters at a time. It was unique. I'm glad to hear you've a draft of book six. Take your time.

Sarah Lin

Haha, appreciate the support!

Hmm well creepy Vistgil cult I guess? Still it seems like only the gullible and naive would initially fall in with this. Perhaps Mihul should make actually getting to know outsiders and find out where they come from instead of believing the snake oil salesmen, and looking at demon trends. Guchiro took one look at Theo and knew he was an outsider, but also knew he was a great deal more than like 3 or 4 years old. Don't believe the witch hunters.

All I wanne say is that corralation isnt the same as causation. Lost ones homes then the world veil is weak. Also the demon comes.
