What she doesn't know is that it heals itself over time through the regenerative process. Hounds eventually gain a slight increase in their overall intelligence as the hormones balance themselves as they start to operate at their newfound best. In all fairness, Crusher is not operating at 100% at this moment. Even their newfound best would be unbearably horny.

That is a good point and I'll have to address it in the future. But for this period of time, I'm okay with a clarification coming in during the early pages of book 2.

I really like how you use the character "Insight" to explain complex backstories and let the reader discover it with her. Very well written and explained. The additional info that puts the character's false conclusions into perspective is also incredibly important to understand correctly. Of course, it's written entirely from her point of view and her combinatorics. But later, in the comic without the commentary, could the reader be led astray? Just a thought. Perhaps some kind of "mediator" would be useful here, if only for the prisoner to cynically comment on her inferences?
