The Robert Downey "interpretation" of Tony Stark "worked"? I suppose so. But his interpretation increasingly comes to mean his shtick, if you ask me -his Sherlock Holmes is indistinguishable from his Iron Man -all sotto-voce smarty-pants remarks, like a verbal tick, or a guy with Tourette's.
