that's literally what Eli was commenting on; you making a comment like this ππ

Bret Easton Ellis and Thaddeus Russell are using the same thesis and I don't know if they have ever met.

Loved this chat. Eli rocks. Death Wish - superbly done. White - was awesome to read the origin story of the Bateman / Tom Cruise scene. I always wondered.

Hi Bret. I just finished White and I enjoyed it. Mostly I enjoyed it how it was more unpolished than your previous work but you put it out anyway. It's like I was reading a process of thought and writing more than the finished thought. And I found it really positive that the book inspired you to write more. I wouldn't mind you putting out more rawer writing like this. I feel your previous books have been more "perfect" but I just enjoy reading your work even though it was not perfect. Hope you write more stuff and release another work in the coming years!

These two have an appreciable chemistry. Two hours of delicious "get off my lawn" banter; plus there's something amusing about Eli schooling Bret on "bi-erasure."

I'd be down for the Bret Easton Ellis and Eli Roth podcast every week two podcasts a week

Sigh two hours talking about Trump and bashing millennials ...the last 15 minutes were good though

Great podcast! Hope Eli can come back again soon. Would be interesting to hear him talk about any upcoming filmmakers he or Brett have an eye on. Will be grabbing my copy of White. Keep it up guys.

PANCAKES!!!

Always great conversation when Bret and Roth get together. Never stops getting terrifying and dystopian hearing their opinions on censorship today. Had a tough time with the rape and sexual assault jokes though, especially Roth's comment on assessing the strength of someone's dreams based on overcoming a sexual assault or not.

Trump is more The Dead Boys than The Clash. Or maybe a dirt version of X.

Ehhh... Eli doesn't understand the millennials at all. Trust me, no one ever gave a crap or was proud of a participation trophy. Hell, I've been a member of second place teams that threw their medals in the trash almost right on the spot. People who bring up that talking point are more out of touch than they think. The current anger from all sides is just about a general lack of control in life. Opportunities can be hard to come by and many good ones are pretty much pre-selected before you can even throw your hat into the ring. Not necessarily anything new but maybe a bit more pronounced than in other recent times.

Endless thematic repetition, endless aggrievement. Nothing about being creative, just non stop worry wort reasons to not being creative.

Knock Knock is a great movie to re-watch in the current moment

Was good but I didn't like how Eli caved to Bret's defence of A star is born. I had the exact same problem as Eli. The movie was psychologically pretty realistic up to that point, so it made the hard to understand suicide more jarring. Just saying every version has the scene doesn't explain why it didn't work in this one.

So, I just began reading White an hour ago and Iβm on page 89... canβt stop reading

Just found the link! It's in the main Overview page, on the right-hand side under Audio RSS Link.
The Bret Easton Ellis Podcast
apparently patreon has been having issues with the rss feeds... here is what they are telling patrons: "If new episodes are no longer appearing in your podcast app, please try un-subscribing and re-subscribing with the same link that appears in the Overview section of the creator page. If this still doesn't work, we recommend trying a different podcast app or RSS feed reader to subscribe. If this still doesn't work, let us know as it may be a problem with the feed itself." -adam

Exactly! I'm having the same problem, and the problem is that after they increased the prices, they basically disabled the link they had given us for our memebership. They need to send us all a new link.

Fuck yeah Eli fuckin Roth!

This and the last episode have now shown up on the podcast app. Any advice?
