Anvil 105: Over/Under Stock Repair

Being good at fixing problems is not necessarily a good thing if you don't fix the root cause of the failure. In this case, the bedding finally set back enough to stress the head end wood, and it blew off a spall. Cracks are also beginning in several places, all caused by the same bedding failure.
This was a target of opportunity video, as the unit was needed a few days later for a tournament. As such, the glass bedding of the action was not captured here as precluded by timing constraints.

Mark, I understand that Bubba's Gun Works and auto lube uses an angle grinder to match the missing piece. Saves time and it still works, most of the time.

My FN Browning B1 Superposed double-trigger 12G from 1962 had similar problems, cracks behind the action and a splinter missing on the top. My gunsmith in Dublin was a cabinet maker by trade and repaired it using cow hoof glue I believe. This was 20 years ago and the gun has probably had 10k rounds through it since the repair/conservation as I use it for both clay and game shooting when in Ireland. Still fine, still good. Keep up the good work mark and illegitimi non carborundum....
