As someone who worked at a transmission shop as an R&R tech, and apprentice rebuilder for a decade..I was 100% behind you until the comment about the rear main seal.. It sounds like common sense, and it may not give you any trouble 9/10 times. But that one time it does...WILL make you reconsider.

$20 to keep from doing the same thing twice.... come on man you take all the ARRRRG out of everything!!

Alex Newman

wish i had you as a teacher, some lucky apprentices you have, cheers

But, have you PERSONNELY made these mistakes? Asking for a friend......

Ben Dean

Man I wish I had a class like that.

Lessions learned the hard way when you can only afford to do all automobile repairs yourself. Like installing a new clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing and input shaft bearing/bushing when a transmission is removed from a manual shift car. Installing all new freeze plugs for an engine rebuild is another one, especially those that live inside the bell housing and those installed up under exhaust manafolds. Replacing/rebuilding the oil pump when an engine is dissembled.

This was almost a "moment with Mark" . I would like more of this stuff. Great story teller.

German= goodntite and one more for good measure!!! Thanks, Mark, for all you show us!!

Torque wrench in a tire shop? Thanks for the laughs Mark ;) small cars - two uggaduggas, big cars - 3, trucks - until the compressor runs out

Excellent. Sadly, in most commercial establishments, the service has gone by the wayside.
