You’d think Honky Tonk Man being the longest-reigning WWF Intercontinental Champion of the time would be some sort of impressive feat, like maybe he really was that popular. But the reality was that the other candidates they wanted to be IC champ couldn’t for one reason or another. Depressing reasons. Jake “The Snake” Roberts, for instance, was going to be IC champ, but he failed a drug test.
