I honestly hope, he won't survive this meeting. ^^ I mean... it is good to see, that he was betrayed himself, but... he should have seen this coming, when he allied himself with those fanatics.

Mecanimus

I’m more interested in Ari being a cute nerd, so I don’t mind the change. Ilwhen one day I publish I want some history buff to remark that this vampire story is surprisingly accurate.

L Pedersen

Sounds good. I still think it's plausible that Ari would refer to a flamable liquid as petrol, shortening petroleum. Just because the word didn't appear until later in official documentation doesn't mean that it wasn't used colloquially before then. But the change makes it bulletproof I guess.

Mecanimus

I'm removing petrol, instead, Sinead will wonder if it's made of oil and resin, which was historically what ancient incendiary devices used.

tibbish

Petrol wasn't a catchall shortening of petroleum, crude or refined, though. Not in England or the US of Arianne's time or anywhere in the world up until the fairly late 1800's or early 1900's. It was a actual product, and very popular branding that stuck around long after the initial product disappeared, that 1st appeared in the 1870's and was apparently sold as a solvent by Carless, Capel & Leonard and only later became associated with the fuel (as a catchall term almost anywhere else but the US really) its known as today. That its a very non-US thing also is a pretty big disqualifier too even if you want to ignore the historicity of the word as a nitpick.

L Pedersen

ehhhh This nitpick is a bit much. Petroleum as a word has been around since the 1500s and throughout time it has meant not just gasoline as we have today but also covered crude oil as well as anything refined from it. So this is fine, it's not an historical inaccuracy.

tibbish

Ehh anything pre-1900's is pretty old these days and its not like most people are gonna know or remember minutia like that either. I only remembered that petrol came around after the US Civil War, not the date either, and had to wiki the rest as a refresher to make sure I was correct before posting.

Mecanimus

The chapter would have been 12 000 words long otherwise I’m afraid.

Mecanimus

Huh excellent point I’ll make the change. I really though petrol bomb technology was ancient.

j0ntsa

And the traitor.

ParoxysmDK

Very nice chapter, loved it. Although the cliff was brutal here.

tibbish

Nitpick: as near as I can tell the word petrol, and the product itself, didn't come into being until the 1870's so Arianne wouldn't have used it here. Interestingly the word, and a similar product to what we think of today as gasoline, gasolene was a thing in the mid 1860's but that is still too far off from the in story time. Arianne probably would've used something like lamp oil or kerosene instead of petrol/gasoline in her bombs. Would've worked about as well over all I think too. Gasoline is usually used in molotov's mainly because of availability though it will ignite easier than lamp oil and flows easier into nooks and crannies of a tank's engine to disable a tank (which is what molotv's were used for frequently BTW though today they're seen as a improvised weapon, something a terrorist or protestor would use rather than a common soldiers' implement of war which is what they were for the Finns). Good chapter though!!

Mecanimus

Indeed we will...

Mecanimus

He was in the alley behind a thick door. I thought it made sense.

Mecanimus

Her jailor in chapter 1 ;)

Gardor

I find it hard to believe she didn't notice the fourth man

Who is ogotai again? And I'm really excited for the next few chapters. This story is literally the best.

L Pedersen

Heck yeah I guessed right! Though I never would have thought that it was going to be someone we already knew. I'm not sure Ogotai would make for a good retainer.... Oh well we'll see how things turn out, looking forward to next one!

Mani

oh! I see, well that might be fun. can't wait for the next chapter.

Mecanimus

Her jailor from thr vampire fortress back in chapter 1.

Mani

damn, don't remember who Ogotai is. I remember the name but I need a refresher on who he is.

Anghwrtais

Good chapter.

Arkeus

I also need to I wipe them out. <= no need for the second I there The man is larger and while steal lean, he is not as skeletal as some of his brethren. <= still lean

Mecanimus

Might be a bit raw. If you find typos let me know.
