The moment that they underestimated Ariane i thought “y’all have no idea what’s coming”. Thanks for the chapter!

Mecanimus

"Surely they can't be as bad as the legends say." I love that one as well.

Kota

“This is the last time, Chris.” Somehow I guessed it would be ... Great chapter as always!

Mecanimus

Edited! It happened twice and I blame autocorrect.

Mecanimus

Should be mostly edited now. Sorry.

Mecanimus

and the money too... :')

Mecanimus

Yep that's why those perspective changes are nice imo. We will return to our regularly scheduled immortal monster POV shortly.

Mecanimus

Good because writing it was hard haha (sob).

Mecanimus

My pleasure!

Anghwrtais

Good work.

Hannah King_10

Probably auto correct if you use that.

Hannah King_10

Just one thing twice you called chris - christ, I'm assuming this is an error.

Really great chapter, Mecanimus! The alternate POVs were nice, and it's good to see Ari getting another Vassal. It's been so long since Dalton passed.

I interpreted the two stones as being her job for the Rosenthal clan (Kate) and convincing Sheridan to become a vassal. Regarding Kate, Ariane was supposed to let the thief go so that they could track the mysterious purchaser. She really got the ideal outcome here, in that she protected the actual jewel, killed all but one of the thieves, and let the remaining thief go with a fake so they could track her to the buyer. It was really a bonus that in the process she managed to convince Sheridan to become a vassal.

Two birds with one stone? Does Ariane have designs for Kate? I mean... she has a tendency to 'collect' strays. ^^ And I think, Kate might need a little rescueing soon, when she shows up at her client's with a fake jewel and the rest of her team dead or captured. Now for the most important question: 'Do her brown ringlets have any shades of red in it?' That's a very important question... for em... reasons! ... science... yeah, for research purposes! I swear.

carebear90

Yeah, I think aswell that there were a few spacers that got lost. The jump from planning stage to arrival a the venue, but also, a bit more noticable, the pov-changes between Kate and Griggs.

Redbeard

A couple of present-tense sentences snuck in at the beginning and a few paragraphs later which was a bit immersion breaking, but otherwise... just wow. An incredible chapter!

Andrew

Thank you!

This chapter was interesting. The outside perspective of Ari was a little jarring at times, mostly that Kate couldn't really follow or understand Ari's actions. Which makes sense, but at times it made the events hard to follow. There were also other times when I feel like there should have been spacers between scenes that probably got lost in formatting, at one point we jump from the the evening before after they finished going over the plan to them arriving at the venue (the next evening?). Another thing that bothered me while reading was that through Kate's eyes Ari seemed a bit too much like an arrogant fool but her actions made sense by the end. Still, there were parts that I had to read a few times to see if I missed something. Close to the end when the thieves were making their escape, Ari shows up and appearently rips the roof off the carriage? Then she makes some small talk, then she's gone, then the carriage is in the lake. This sequence is very chaotic and I'm pretty sure you intended it to be. All of this is from the point of view of Kate, who by this point is very shell shocked in addition to being marely mortal. Overall I have to say that while I didn't enjoy this chapter like I usually do I must say that this might be the best chapter you've ever done in terms of imagining, structure and ploting. The way things came together in the end was amazing. Part of me suspects that there is another version of this chapter from Ari's pov. Or at least an outline of it. As always, it's a joy to read your story and I can't wait for more! :> Make sure you don't catch the coof, I hear it's on the rise again.

This chapter was absolutely my favourite so far!!

I have no pity for Kate. She saw all the terrible and objectionable things happening around her but as long as she was not the victim she didn't mind. Whatever fate befalls her is of her own making. I feel bad for Alva, I would be interested to know if Ari or perhaps another vampire adept at mentalism could help her recover.

I've said it before, I'll say it again, and I fully expect I'll say it even more in the future, but I love this story and I love the way you weave such wonderful descriptions and settings. It is always a treat to see the world behind the curtain from other's eyes, and it helps to lend the unnatural and mystical quality of our beloved Ariane and her compatriots and counterparts that we don't quite get from her perspective.

Lictor Magnus

This was a wonderful chapter!

BurnNote

Using the thieves perspective was pretty cool. With Ariane, it would've been "And then everything went according to plan", which is only medium interesting. I do feel a little bad about Kate, but it's not like she didn't have a good number of chances to do otherwise.

Thanks for the chapter

Lasne

It was an interesting pov but I would prefered a perspective from her newest Vassal...

Mecanimus

Ok, this was one absolute CHONKERS of a chapter with over 10K words. It counts for one and a half. Seriously.

Lasne

Thanks for the chapter
