Yep!

John Koor

"A few miles off, I taste the waiting auras of a few mortals and smell their nervousness on the air. Jarek must have done so as well. We slow down, but do not stop." This makes it sound like her aura sense range extends for miles. I'm assuming it's meant to portray that they continue a few miles down the road before sensing others with their aura?

Rondel

Gotta ask, you make an epub version of Bob but not of Journey, why is that? Sorry if this was answered before, just like to use my ereader.

I do think it reflects poorly on Bertrand but he was up against a Progenitor and some powerful lords with home field advantage on a continent half the world away from his power base so the loss isn’t that damning. He still gets baited and captured easily which basically forced them into peace talks so it does look bad for him. However, the American vampires were basically forced to concede the entire of Central and South America so the deal wasn’t the worst possible for Bertrand. Or at least, the deal doesn’t seem that bad until you take into account that once Ariane is a lady, she’s going to either go kick his ass off the continent or just kill him. So I’d say that while he looks like an idiot for getting caught, the deal he got isn’t that bad considering he was facing a progenitor and some powerful lords with home field advantage, weeks travel away at least from his power base.

I finally read and caught up after letting chapters sit for a while. So I feel like something went unsaid here after the negotiations about how despite outnumbering and having large supplies of fae essence to use, Bertrand a strong member of the mask faction lost. Doesn’t that turn him into something of a laughing stock by the members over in Europe. Like I mean sure there is a 50 year peace between them but I question if Bertrand will still be around and in control of the faction in 50 years after this debacle. Also the fact that Ariane slipped through his grasp two more times despite his best efforts makes him look doubly or triply pathetic. Oh I almost forgot he also attacked without even declaring war properly. That just adds to how pathetic this outcome was for him.

Wow I honestly cannot wait for the mortal's reactions

Mai0e

The great reveal! Iam so excited

L Pedersen

Ari's all tsun and no dere

BurnNote

The large but simple man? He became a vampire, and intends to help her in the future. The current stuff just isn't suited to a courtier

Gardor

What happened to John Doe? Did he die at some point? I feel guilty for not knowing

Andrew Holland

It’s not an east west line. It’s a north south line based on the Mexican and American border

Michael Otton

Other then that I love her reaction to the peace deal and I will relish the chance to see any other being from other realms.

Cameron S. Moore

This war seems to have fully brought out Aria’s tsudere side.

Michael Otton

great chapter I'll just say as a non-American the way the east west line is described is a bit confusing and its not helped by the fact you mention it meets is the pacific rather then the Atlantic.

Adrian Gorgey

Do you think anyone will make the connection between this Arianne and the one in the Bingle stories? That would be great vamp media apin

Adrian Gorgey

Awesome! The reveal!

SunderGoldmane

I was expecting zombies, I’m interested in eldritch ai drone warfare though.

Andrew

Thank you!

Seri

Ooo magical hive mind zombies. Well that's a hell of a way to announce the magical community to the public.

crusaderstar

Ariane going to Washington, I'm getting Abraham Lincoln vampire hunter vibes here :P. Also nice job on the lantern and moon and making the night feel dark for mortals!

Adrien Léonard

After her vision, I was expecting zombies. I am pleasantly surprised.

Matthew Lester

Hahaha this really reminds me of Ch’thon from Grim Dawn. I love it! She’s going to found the men in black!

Jon

Damn, out of the frying pan, dodged the fire, but fell into the stew pot. I really hope none among Bertrand's faction unleashed these things on the continent, but it's hard to imagine the Civil War attracting their attention when all of the shit happening in Europe and the rest of the world in the centuries since the Black Death wasn't able to do it. Nirari's mom, maybe?

Lyndwyen

Competition and maybe envy or fighting for the best hunting grounds

MacDB

My guess is it goes for vampire’s partly because they’re the biggest threat and also because they are in a way, spawn of the watcher, and this massive hive mind entity may be a direct competitor.
