upon re-reading, for your attention: "Eteia shrugged. “I am not naive. Lancer used me as a tool and I did the same for him. Do you have any idea how difficult it is to be the only female fourth step war mage in Eteia?" "War mage in Enoria" possibly?

They got the leadership fast. That would break most feudal battles. Though Modern Earth Armies can take helluva more casualties than most fantasy feudal ones before surrendering.

I actually appreciate what I consider much more reasonable casualties than most fiction has. I mean decimated literally means losing 10% and would usually lead to a full rout if possible. These guys we're 2 and a half times decimated by a force that focused on psychological warfare far more than inflicting lethal casualties.

Mecanimus

Yes. I considered that those are all people with very high endurance and they had access to healers after the battle, so 25% fatalities was huge. Also the battle was very short which also limited the casualties.

Gardor

After the guerrilla attacks and the absolute route in the meadow, 600 soldiers out of the 800 Lancer brought survived?

Titania

Nice transition looking forward to the next steps though really Bob probably should have put it up there you mess with non humans you get messed up to clear the air

At this point I assume there's a clique of gods treating the Viv & Arthur thing as some sort of inside joke :)

Seri

Arthur got a bag of (gold) holding! ❤

Asking Solfis for a hand makes me think shes planning on killing that bishop, but that feels like a good slap in the face to his god after helping her soul. Also, losing the mines to the church feels like a serious loss for a new empire in its growth period. Also who would be in charge of Kazaar when she leaves? My guess is shes going to be gone for at least a year. Would it be Ban? Farran? Thanks for the chapter!

Im very surprised they accepted the oath without fuss. I would have expected many, if not most trying to join Harrak if at all possible. Especially the maranor elites like eitea or talan (if he survived). They bet on the wrong horse and will have made enemies back in ereon. The offer of holding a fort away from the catastrophic civil war also seems like a comparably decent option. Even so, like eitea many of them would have joined either for glory, to be a part of the winning side, or to restore order. All of wich would guide them to want to join, especially if they heard the deal given to the survivors of the last battle of kazar. Not saying she would not refuse them, but it should have come up. Maranor elites insisting to join Harrak after her victory always seemed like the thing neriad was warning her about too. Hell its even a perfect storybarc, how they join n in good faith but start building power and change the culture while she is away, even if they remain in good faith.

Pfft! I giggled like a madman while imagining the vision of Arthur being in a boardroom to dictate banking. Yes Viviane, Totally not happening, Kek! Now if only that theoretical banking system also used it's own mint to create coins with pictures of Arthur on them...

Nice chapter that sets the next arcs in motion. I feel there are some inconsisitencies though, understandable if you wrote part of it tired. First the casualties seem very low on the Eorian side especially from such a one-sided battle, they started with ca 800, ca 50 died en route and there are still around 700 left? I also expected there to be a need for at least a few limb rituals after the battle before leaving(for her side at least). It feels very sudden with the introduction of the sudden departure and Helock as a destination. It did give us a nice conversation between Eteia and Viv, but I feel there should have been some foreshadowing. This is the 10th day since her soul was healed and she has spent most of that time directing the harrasment campaign. But somehow she had time to think that she should pray to a god for help(since she couldn't have before) and then go back to Kazar and research Helock? It also implies that she knew more or less that she would leave directly after the battle even before her soul was healed since all loose ends are tied up the day after the battle. And while her attunement has been increasing so far the cause of action hasn't been anything that beyond keep advancing her skills/path/stats, nothing to suggest it wasn't doing enough and she should seek help, no symptoms mentioned or updated advice from Solfis. Just a mention of something like that could be enough. A slightly delayed departure with where most of the loose ends are tied off and where the urgency of handling the attunement or just the freeing her up to think/discuss it/pray to Maradoc and through that Helcok is introduced as a destination could also work. Her asking/pressing Eteia for advice/information during their meeting would maybe also as a motivation to leave for Halock without involving Maradoc. Possibly Farren could have adviced her to seek Maradocs/Priest of Maradoc/Devotee of Maradoc for help in a earlier chapter or a flashback and she had got the destination then and the need to leave urgently expressed then but the incoming prince holding her back? I know it could be a retcon but that way it would explain all the preparations for leaving and heading to Helock directly after the battle. That would also make the council aware of her problem(with a need to keep it to themselves) and her possible need to leave because I don't see her position being left vacant being addressed currently. Also maybe Eteia should be mentioned at the Oath cermony, I think she warrants a mention there if she didn't have a separate one. Sorry for the wall of text, just trying to offer some constructive critisism.

There is still a lot of Neriads followers in her settlement.

I'm personally looking forward to both the travel and the academy arc. Really nice ending here. Were we ever told if there is a dragon god? Because I'm curious which god made Arthur the pouch. I also hope we'll see Etreia again at some point. It looked like Viv and her could have been friends in other circumstances. Or at least allies.

MrrC

Dude either dies or new Harrak absorbs nonhumans so that any attack on them is an Attack on Harrak

Addanc

That dude dead

fbt

Nice wrap on various threads, ty. Are we to interpret the ending as her disposing of the pretentious prick offscreen?

InkyBusiness

Awesome transitional chapter! ;) The groundwork for the next two arcs is set quite well. Nomadic travel through hostile territory followed by the fabled academy arc. I hope that we get to see a lot of nice scenery and some gruesome abuse of power depicted in the former. About the later: like srsly every progression novel got a Academy arc starting with TWOT and ending with ELLC. Its so very clishée that I would really appreciate a short one to none - as in Vic just gets herself fixed causes a pol incident and leaves. I personally find that Academy arcs are so very dull. However the way the entrance conditions are laid out I have little hope for my preferences to come true... Well I hope the arc will still be enjoyable, but first we get a awesome travel arc. Yay!

Elie

Thank you for the chapter! Nice transition

Andrew
