phantom

To be fair she had some peaceful days until the prince showed up. Quite frankly the vast majority of things that happened to her since first finding civilization is his fault.

Mecanimus

No the leader doesn't get paid, they take. She reinvested most of it in the city.

lenkite

She only has 150 gold talents ? Wasn't she paid something for the defense of Kazar ? What about the money looted from the prince and prisoners ?

Mecanimus

I already know heheheh

Winny

Thanks for the chappy. Cant wait to see where solfis pops out from during the school arc. :d

Old remedy for bad luck, put people on fire. All pagan cults did it.

Morog T Tiny

excellent

Also, I am so ready for the school arc. While I think Viv turning into an elemental would be incredibly cool, I'm biased, since I just love elementals so much. Just imagine Viv with flowy tendrils of black mana for hair, eyes that can shatter a mind and soul, the ability to spontaneously pulp something and regrow her missing arm or even head. I don't remember any elementals other than the tree (that was one yeah?) but I figure they don't have to be dnd elementals, all made of one element. Viv has a physical body, and becoming an elemental could be like becoming a Necrarch, but like, alive and not mutated to heck and back. So exciting.

Gwendolyn Simmons-LaRose

She sold the cores for 4 gold talents or fourth four, cause it's written as four four.

Mecanimus

With her gear. She hasn't lost it.

Mecanimus

It's interesting that people picked on it. The quick decision aims to show that Viv is still her old pragmatic self.

Mecanimus

Luck isn't always trying to get her killed

Mecanimus

Necessary downtime

Mecanimus

pacing is important.

Mecanimus

>:) for now

Mecanimus

Buying art sounds interesting, hmmmmm.

Mecanimus

Damn that feels like just yesterday and yet so much happened.

Mecanimus

Irao leaves no witnesses.

Mecanimus

Scribe?

Wyv

She's also on a time limit, a fairly strict one. Can't afford to waste more time than she already has.

Melting Sky

Outside of completely derailing her entire mission and wasting a vast quantity of resources, time and effort to find two individuals who are currently doing everything they can to lay low, then her best bet for rejoining with them sooner rather than later is to go to the destination they all originally set out for and check back with her bank frequently for their response to her letter. Even if she funded a manhunt for them, the odds of it finding them faster than simply waiting for them to use the bank again aren't great. There is also a non-zero chance Solphis would kill anyone that he discovered sniffing around for them.

Morog T Tiny

where is the shield? she has it in the previous chapter.

fbt

First, good chapter, ty. Second, was just reading an interesting and creative story where the fairly decent (new) author tried too hard on poetic turns of phrasing, and kept stumbling. This, especially the earlier bits, was really nicely done; the writing style was awesome. Everyone's prefs are diff, but I thought it was an excellent example of successfully balancing style and practical considerations. Just IMHO.

fbt

yup, good pacing requires variety, and the reader's mind needs rest (perhaps not as much as the MC, granted!) :)

L Pedersen

No you could absolutely be right. I'm not questioning her decisions, ultimately Mec will simply make it so since he's the author. I'm just saying that I find it strange that this chapter devoted very little time to Viv being seperated from them. All that she learns is that they're alive and together. She could MAYBE infer that they've been at this bank before but I think that's a stretch. Absent anything else I find it much more plausible that Marruk and Solfis would search for Viv in Enoria rather than go to Helock and wait for Viv to arrive. Viv is the one who needs to be there, without her they have no business in Helock. Unless I missed something in a previous chapter then it makes no sense for Marruk and Solfis to go without her. Solfis literally has no purpose without her and I think Marruk has more loyalty to Viv than anyone realises. The more I think about it the more it just feels glossed over.

Elie

Thank you for the chapter, it is nice to have a bit of a breather after all that excitement.

Elie

The problem is, regardless where they are and what they are doing currently, she simply does not have the resources to find them. This is a medieval world, and she does not have a network to query about them, beside the bank which she attempted. Since they cannot know where she is, her best bet to find them is to go where they expect her to go, which is Helock. I might be totally wrong but I thought that made sense.

Pietro Ferretti

Couple of typos: "see passage" > seek passage?, "four four" > four?

L Pedersen

I liked this chapter but I thought it was odd that Viv made the decision to continue on to Helock instead of trying to link up with her friend and pet murder machine. All she did was send them a message they may or may not get, presumably the note said "Come find me in Helock, hope you don't get sea sick." What if they're running around the other side of Enoria looking for her after she disappeared during the battle? What if they're doing a grid search of the entire deadshield woods? What if that note is useless since Marruk would sooner die than to interact with the bank? Maybe Solfis is on 1% power and almost completely shut down? What if Marruk blew all her gold on hookers and blow and can't afford the passage to Helock? Obviously lots of silly maybes here, I just wanted to illustrate that it was strange that she just /shrugs and goes on without them.

william wallace

I wonder how much it cost a certain god of honorable combat to ensure Viv got a bit of a break…

StarWolf

Enjoyable chapter. Well written and pleasant.

MrAcerulez

A very nice chapter of much needed relaxation. It’s good to see Viv finally taking a breather.

Clarence Bassanini

After all that excitement, one downtime chapter was actually refreshing.

Kotawa Ma

I thought that was a Scribe expy for a moment.

Jon

When she has the time, I think Viv should consider writing a children's book for/about Arthur. She could commission some great Arthur-related art for it, too. Arthur would love it, and who knows, it might catch on? 'Arthur the Fierce and Friendly Dragon Who Collects Much Gold!' maybe? :p

Tehd11

School arc incoming! Congrats on the triple digits! I still remember reading the preview for this you posted on RR quite a while ago. Been hooked on it ever since.

Young Youghurt

When the silent girl assassin warned Viv I imagined Viv name dropping good friend Irao but then what if he is so good nobody even knows he exists? Agent 47 Hirao This chapter felt like one arc ending and another one begining. Now onwards to My Wizard Academy arc!

The big 00

RottenTangerine

Also, Arthur sinking a toy boat in the bath is adorable

RottenTangerine
