This sounds so realistic I'm starting to question our reality XD Thanks for the chapter and the hard work

Chapter 195?

RonGAR

“I have not remained in power for so long by basing my plans on hopes, young Ariane. The mages will publicize their existence, and soon. Afterward, the other members of the supernatural family will be revealed one by one.” “And Bertrand believes that aggressive expansion could offset the risks?” “Bertrand believes that a more… united ‘vampirekind’, forgive the word, will be best equipped to fend off the backlash we will face. We would, of course, need to agree to be ruled by a united government.” I finally understand. Bertrand heads a faction dedicated to uniting all of us under one flag, by force if necessary. That includes taking over the New World as we are comparatively weaker, and that means that if he has the opportunity to deprive us of one of our assets, he will. Such assets include a stable, sane Devourer with a proven record of acceptable combat prowess. Bertrand wants me dead. He was the one who tried to dispose of me, and Dominique just informed me in the most direct way possible. -Excerpt from Chapter 124: Hearts and Mask. Seems Ariane's and Bertrand dream should be very much aligned. Seems like he could be a good stewart WHEN Ari becomes queen of all vampires. His only mistake is thinking she should be killed for his dream to happen! He should've looked to her as a tool/asset to acquire, not eliminate. SMH.

Oh... THEN are we talking more about ships like the ones you find in the anime 'Last Exile'? http://gallery.minitokyo.net/view/342345 Like the Silvana depicted here? https://www.flickriver.com/photos/136558004@N07/27270089415/

I'm pretty sure it isn't a blimp at all. It flies with magic, not with hot air or other gases.

RonGAR

When I think of the design of the airship, my thoughts run to a 'steampunk' hypothetical concept design, rather than the standard 'Blimp' design that we all know. Something like this: https://i.stack.imgur.com/xmPPb.jpg

Mecanimus

He was freed after the death of Fenris and went to say thanks to Ari. What is not told is that he goes on to serve the new werewolf king. He’s doing fine.

Mecanimus

No it’s the dragon.

MrrC

Who is "The Old One" ? Is that Sineads mother?

Dipped In Butter

What happened to that werewolf again? The prisoner she rescued, who then told her about what was going on with the northern tribes?

Jeanean

Neither Ariane nor her Sire can ever "peak" in power. Not truly, since both of their Magna Arqas grow indefinitely with every defeated enemy or aquired ally. However, there comes a point where any groth in power in effectively non-existent. In arianes case, it is because her Magna Arqa mainly grows in size, and after some point it matters little whether it has a radius of 1 or 2 kilometers. Also, the one thing I will be most sad about is that we will never get to see Ariane, Dread-Space pirate.

LOVING IT!!!! I LOVE seeing our girl take care of friends. Her relationship w/ her people is something to treasure. But our guy Torran wasn't mentioned even once. Is that relationship officially over? It seems like Issac has stepped up in a big way. Turned into a real shark. A real right-hand man. Now the Politics. I like what she is doing with and for her community and people alike. And since mask and eneru, bound themselves to accords, seems like the whole vampire community will rise along with the accords. In my opinion, it is still a mistake to trust Mask after all they have done, and still promise to do with Nirari. Oh for DAmN sure it is. But I'm pretty sure it was Sephare's short-sighted idea and Constantine was too lazy to think past it, and Poor ole Ari was outvoted. Why rush into business w/ those who are 'obligated' to aid in a plan, that will most likely bring about your end? Or the end of all your endeavors??? Seems completely ridiculous if you ask me. But what's done is done and our girl has to 'go along to get along'. But it seems like Ari is a conqueror in business as much as she is in battle. Love to see it. As for this chapter overall, I still wish some things were looked into deeper. Seems like all topics were brought up then quickly brushed aside for the next one. Would've loved to have gotten a reaction from Nami about her gift. But that was just brushed over, among many others. Shame would've liked the good vibes off that moment. smh. But I guess this was one of those, Time Montage chapters. All good if that was the case. Also, you seemed to have hinted that Nirari will eventually, get the better of his mother and achieve his goal through her death. All set to happen right around WW2. Or whatever this alternate reality version is. I guess I can't say I'm surprised. If our girl was supposed to challenge him, then yeah, I suppose it had to be that way. I guess it can't really be considered a spoiler then, can it?? Also, you mentioned Nirari was as his peak of power? So there is a limit??? Kinda thought their power would just keep growing, century after century, age after age. Guess the question now is, When did he peak? And how close is our girl to peaking as well? President / General Grant may be right. Selling that Airship technology to future enemies might not be the best idea. Especially if one of your biggest selling points is it will give you an advantage over your enemies. B/c from what I could see, the vast majority of humanity is still under the thrall of propaganda and is frightened of anything and anyone supernatural. I.E still their enemy. And 'WHEN' not if, WHEN war comes between the natural and supernatural species Ari, Loth, and all the rest, would find out exactly why it was a mistake to be so short-sighted and sell this idea for profit. So unless they have a way to remotely shut down all opposing vessels in the future, Its completely retarded to give out this advantage to humans period. It should be sold only to the supernatural. Because humans will do what humans do best, aka Something very very stupid, and pick a fight under false pretenses. Then the pretenses will come to an end on both sides. The supernatural will have to stop playing the "We are all Equal'' game, accept their actual superiority, and will be forced to demonstrate that difference. And what better way to do that than by being the ONLY ones able to fly and wage war from above??? (Till anti-air tech catches up to the times that is, lol) But nope, they sold out their future for a shilling. lol. Now they are all on equal footing and will be blowing each other out of the sky. Either way, great chapter ☺️

I agree with most of this but I believe planes will still come out due to the limit of speed of wind powered vessels. Once air navy's are common there is going to be a demand for fast scout vessels and for quick small volume transport as the main advantage of airlifting goods for us is the speed and limited the infrastructure required. With sky ships taking the advantage of average volume, infrastructure required, prevalence, and military advantage (for now) rail taking cost, reliability, and large volume the only niche planes have is speed and low volume transport.

Adrian Gorgey

Love it!

SunderGoldmane

The one with the bloodline that craves experiences. She actually slipped into and then back out of the fae portal ahead of ari.

kyle

Loving it, thanks!

The real difference I would see in airships such as these is that they should dominate the sky until rockets come along maybe even longer. Of course fast flying airplanes with big guns may work as well as a counter and I think they will develop quite differently. But I could see world war I with airships. The real advantage a flying ship has over a plane would be that it can have bigger guns that outrange a planes gun.. The other thing is with functioning flying ships it makes less sense to push for development in airplanes and they will likely lag a good bit behind compared to our world. As both the military and the civil air industry is more likely to focus on ships. Another big economic factor is that depending on how well the ships can operate. That mass transportation inland will be more feasible. That may mean that countries like Brasil, Russia and India have an easier time to modernize as they have usually struggled to build infrastructure at large. Another thing is that depending on carrying capacity things like paratrooper's are should be more widespread. and also that it's easier to resupply armies further afield than in the real world. It will likely be on the other hand more difficult to transport quickly perishable goods if airplanes don't get as much development. (and I don't think they will much of the research done for planes was done by militaries and most countries will likely try to come up with their own ship design for their own air force most militaries are after all vary to invest a lot of money without being desperate or seeing that somebody else has a well working machine of the same type. I would at least expect that the bigger European nations will try very hard and likely successfully to make their own machines soon.

Andrew

Thank you!

Mani

i wonder how good these ships really are. Blimps (the closest real world analogy to airships, though obviously very different from the airships in this story) were famously fragile and were quickly phased out when proper bombing planes were invented. But a lot of our real world airplane development has probably been limited by the fact that planes need to be somewhat lightweight. Heavy armor has never really been an option, so survival has always depended on speed, altitude, evasion, and stealth. I don't know how much lift these magical airships are capable of. Because if the lift is too weak to let them be heavily armored, their low mobility is gonna make them quickly obsolete.

Kristof Dohrmann

One of her friends, the vampire she rescued, along with sineads wife and that one werewolf, while she was still hiding in marquette.

Thomas Payne

Nice chapter! Who is Nami? I don’t remember.
