ah good, i thought i misremembered a name, but indeed cennit should be benneti. Ricky is also right in that Darla informed her that arthur would not be allowed.

Aclys

Paging Dr Death, Dr Death please report to the regeneration room...

Ricky Kukowski

chapter 105 Darla did say Arthur wouldn't be allowed in the dorms. That's why she was looking for her own housing originally.

the weregild on a woman of child bearing age was higher than that of a warrior, so YMMV

Mecanimus

Yes,my bad I need to change the name. For the room, Sidjin changed her mind in a recent discussion.

Mecanimus

I'm trying very hard to keep it that way.

Aaradur

I thought it was Sidjin who was looking for housing outside the academy?

Uri David Akavia

Hmm. Didn't Benneti die, not Cenit? Second question - it feels like a few chapters ago Viviane decided to get housing outside the academy, to stay safer (and maybe because of Artur). Then she's getting housing at the academy. Am I not remembering this right?

Seth Cox

I think this is one of the highest quality novels I’ve found on Royal Road, thanks for the chapter

Samuel

Yes. These were in the PDF files.

Mecanimus

You're welcome and I hope you get through it with your sanity intact.

Mecanimus

I'm always pleased to hear that, I really give it my all every time.

Mecanimus

As in she gained the same level twice?

Samuel

Just a little niggle. Chapter 94, page 5 "Mana mastery: Beginner 9". Chapter 102, page 4 "Mana mastery: beginner 9"

fbt

TFTC! it always makes my day when there's a new episode of Bob!

M. Gunnarsson

There are no monsters in Helock, so they might have a different view on child mortality. In Kazar and the other areas we've seen, kids had to forage or migrate and that's how the monsters got them. Depends on who they were, too. Maybe no one would care if it was two random street orphans. If they and their social circles knew the boys, it's a different matter. Especially if they weren't below Varska's family in influence or ability. Killing your neighbors kids and then have their parents try to ruin your family could get a lot of people excommunicated.

Han Pol

Or well set them back by a decade as they had to pay what basically amounts to a their surplus over a decade.

Enzo Elacqua

Just got COVID and hav even isolating for a few days, gotta say reading this brings a sense of normalcy that was deeply needed. Love your stuff thank you for the great story.

Morog T Tiny

yes. This one area of the chapter seems a little shallow, maybe givs us more reason. ie maimed , killed children from a nobel household who impovedished the rest of the family?

Mecanimus

I'll try to keep it balanced.

Mecanimus

I'm afraid they don't speak German. Northerners tend to have one-syllable first names.

Mecanimus

There are some who call him by that name, yes.

Andrew

Thank you!

David Brims

I think it was at least partly the damage to the family? But yeah, this seemed a bit of an extreme reaction for people in a civilization of this kind. Disgust might have been more appropriate than hatred here.

Chad L.

I’m waiting for a wizard named..... Tim.

Nicholas Grey

Especially since it doesn’t appear to be murder (deliberate, targeted killing), but rather accidental manslaughter (still a terrible crime, but there is a qualitative difference) She showed clear guilt, has taken responsibility, and was punished for it. Presumably, if there’s any sort of real justice system in place, the families received significant compensation. Heck, there’s a word for that that’s literally a thousand years old - weregild, the price paid for a life (lit. “Man-gold”, I think) This is not a crime that would normally cause a person to be *hated* by their own kin. Horrified, yes, but I don’t understand why she’d be hated.

Does it mean anything that the head of the medical department is called Death? At least if you read it as the German word for death (Tod=Death).

AjiTae

>crimes as bad as killing two boys Huh, and that's all? The preciousness of a child's life is a modern thing. It used to be like: you can always make more children, it's a life of an experienced adult that matters. Of course, you can portray any type of culture. It's just rather unexpected.

Kale Daley

I hope Viv can have a bit of peace for a time. It doesn't need to be any blow by blow slice of life type chapters which I know annoy many. It would just be nice for her to enjoy learning magic for a time with a minimum of deadly shenanigans involved.

Dash Marley

A lovely way to start the day
