Fucking knew it ... at least i did guess it! Thanks for the Chapter! Another glorys Book from you!

So the question is Seth going to contain Nestra's identity or have her run? If he is contianing Valerian and Mazingwe are dead. Unless he has mind fucking powers, but then nestra shouldnt trust him either. If it is run then she just lost her chance to help her sister and a lot of stuff will get blamed on her. Nestra is in no way prepared for a life on the run. Sure she can fight but nothing else. She is like a lion that's lived in the Zoo her whole life. Also this means that Gorge's (weapons dealer/fence/fixer) plan to register and go legit was doomed to failure as well. Valerian hasnt known her that long and his actions will hurt Nestra but at least he did it cause he cared. Mazingwe though is a cold fuck that has known her longer and still the first thing he does after confirming that she is herself is sell her out. TLDR: Unless this is a vision Nestra is fucked.

Mecanimus

Will try to be early.

Mecanimus

I have yo read the passage again.

HJ

Darn, I have the exact opposite opinions and feel like they add a lot to the story: 1) (a)Nestra's a do-er and not a thinker. So shes not supposed to be spending days and weeks trying to figure stuff out. Shes got a more kinesthetic learning style and figures things out by using her abilities, usually under stress. Her role in the force was a close-quarters specialist which is NOT an investigative position by any means. (b)In addition, she has had very little time to sleep let alone spend researching her abilities. (c)Lastly, there is no accessible information out there about her because demons are not exactly welcome in Threshold and so shes doing the right thing by avoiding research into topics that could call attention to her. These three factors combined make her actions very logical. 2) I LOVE the depiction of a cultural hodgepodge in Threshold. In many ways it makes a lot of sense because its a brand new colony on a brand new continent that appeared during the 'incursion'(to be defined). But also, the variety of language and terminology make it a treat to read. For example: it has a far greater impact to call someone 'Ajumma' when they are single and middle-aged as opposed to just calling her an 'old woman' or 'grandma'. Another example is that its more engaging to visualize the mannerisms of a person that says 'sou-desu-ka' (is that so?) as opposed to just using generic English phrases as a Japanese individual. I would be quite disappointed if these disappeared from the story. So overall, I very much agree with Mecanimus' creative choices here and I hope you will come to enjoy them as much as I do.

I have been trying out Changeling for the past 1-2 days, if i'm completely honest it's been rough. Courtesy warning: This is criticism, if you don't want/need that just ignore it. 1>So far i am at part 6, what jarrs me a little is how happy-go-lucky she is with her new circumstance regarding her demon form, which if i understood her character decently enough in 5~ chapters, comes off as unbelievable. She does barely the bare minimum of discovery/understanding her form. She experimented with the electricity mana throughput in demon vs human form. At one point she mentions her demon form weight and worries about stairs collapsing, but doesn't check her human form if it has the same issues. Barely checked her skin with a knife. nothing else. She doesn't experiment with her powers and gains in comparison of the forms. speed? strength? vision? mobility? what makes her lose her human mask if at all? out of mana? dmg build up? nothing. Meanwhile she goes on and on about her height difference in either form and nothing else. Where does the height difference go? Whats is her mask? Can she get more masks? what are her limits? She comes from a background where she trained and prepared, presumably, as heir extensively and to prepare her for her user/raider future. Then she trained and has experience in the police force. Which in the world you painted is much rougher than RL. She is even set to become an investigator. Yet.. she has done no 'investigation' into her demon and human form (besides what i mentioned above). Meanwhile she jumps in portals like it's a trip to a safe kid playground, and knows she will get into fights in her world soon. 2>Another reason for the roughness with the story is more to blame on myself. The use of cultural words and meaning that i am not familiar with. Tho even in chapter one where those cultural shortcomings are less, the story uses many, many words that we are not yet informed about. users, raiders, augs, borgs, gleams, quirks, acab, and many more that even at part 6 i remain uncertain about. I know it's steampunk, but a little explanation would be nice. At least so i don't have to google every word (thank gawd for context search extension providing easy 2 click searches) A little later there's korean and japanese words and meaning thrown in and it gets overwhelming and tedious when i keep getting booted out of immersion in order to look things up. > This early in it's already getting to the point where i find other things to do and get distracted multiple times throughout a chapter. I think it needs some smoothing out. I'm a big fan of both Journey and Bob and really want to give Calamity a read. Steampunk and Scifi, at least in reading form, is not something i usually go for so much of point 2 is mostly to blame on myself. p.s. I'm dutch... we are blunt... don't take it to harsh or as overly agressive please :P

kyle

I don't think Seth is the benefactor tho, at least not the only one. Seems like there should be a whole community of them! Will be interesting how this plays out...will they finally go beyond the wall?

RottenTangerine

Damn it. I don't want to wait till next week for this to continue... great chapter though!

Cormac

Hype hype hype. Excellent chapter.

Clifton

Was it Shinoda or Nestra who nearly dropped the youth off the ledge? I thought Shinoda was being a diplomat while she was being the hard ass.

David Brims

Wow! What a chapter! But so sad to lose Shinoda 😢

HJ

Second sphere is actually what he said. But I’m not sure which spheres he’s referring to.

Aram Ibrahim Camps

didn't fucking se it coming

Clarence Bassanini

Amazing chapter!

Jed Wolfgang

Good point about the sister. I sincerely hope there is proper follow-up for that.

Jed Wolfgang

FUCKING SETH!? Bro.

Leviathon251

Noooo Shinoda. That's sad. Also Valerian sucks and I KNEW the baker would be important. He had that 'outside normal society' feel to him. So good. Thanks for the chapter!

kyle

I knew when the "benefactor" called c class the 2nd level that their would be more than 4...I wonder what lvl you have to be where a team of A class raiders can't even break your mask!

Oblique

Ai, Shinoda. Nestra runs slower than Nezhra. I understand why she didn't go in demon form. Still, that what if would eat me up. Valerian trusts people easily it seems. I cannot wait. I hear there's an uber patreon tier for the next chapter. Cost? One week's patience. Well, hopefully.

kyle

That was an epic chapter! Once a week is too long!

Boenn

Damn, I was really hoping for Nestra to keep her identity secret. Mainly because I wanted her to go raiding with her little sister. But now it kinda seems impossible. God damn it Valerian

SunderGoldmane

I knew Seth was too good to be just a baker!

Jan Verner

Shinoda kicked it?! I believed he will survive another red flag. And lo and behold - there he lays. Thanks for the chapter!

RonGAR

Facts. These kinds of ending makes me tight that when we don't have the next chapter on deck. Facts, again. WHo the HelL guessed the baker??? Seriously, what were the clues?

RonGAR

Nice... 'Its all just a dream'. She is having a final vision as she slowly dies from her injuries during the purge. lol

RonGAR

LOL... he wasn't even on my list at all. What were the clues you picked up on?

RonGAR

Did I miss somehthing? Everyone is going, it was obvious and 'of course it was Seth?" So what did I miss, in the chapters I reread like 3x each?

RonGAR

What the Frack?! What...🫨 Holy crap. Nestra's secret benefactor was SETH?!!! Wow...didn't picture that at all. Wow. -------- Damn what a gritty chapter. Clap clap clap. WOrth the wait. Didn't think Shinoda would bite the dust, given his relationship to the MC. I thought plot armor would protect him. But there he lay. SMH. It was probably the tiny mice like creatures that that came in mass that did them all in. Rushing them in hundreds like that, and biting at everything below the waist, is a hell of a distraction for when the big ones come along. smh. -------------- Damn... How is Nestra going to properly give a story for her defense now? They are going to think she really did kill all those gleams for the pleasure of it. 😨 -------------- The good news is, if her family are those 'Cacodeamion' things then she has support, if not, then she get to freely punch her brother in the face when the tries to make himself look like a hero and try to bring her in. Win-Win for us readers. 😁 --------------------- Damn. What does this mean for her to meet up with her sister? Hope she doesn't miss that. Her sis is hanging on to her civility by a thread. If another important person breaks their word, she will go supervillain. Or at least her villain arc will be kicked off. 😈 ----------- Thank you for the amazing chapter.

Kota

Damn. I really hoped we would get more of Shinoda, I quite liked the guy. He felt good for the story too. Alas, he will be missed. As for Mazingwe, I really don't envy the man for the choices he's had to make in this chapter. No matter what he did, he'd have betrayed someone's trust or confidence. Which doesn't mean I like or respect the way he shafted poor Nestra here, she probably didn't deserve that. Valerian ... I wouldn't blame Nestra if it's some time before she trusts him with anything important ever again, let alone a life-or-death secret that could spell her doom. Sheesh. Lastly, I've long believed a good twist doesn't come out of nowhere, but can be guessed by someone clever and attentive enough. Seth being the hidden benefactor delivers quite nicely on that front, the connection (foodie!!!) being subtle enough to not be obvious, but still so manifest as not to feel random. So, a great chapter! Can't have been easy, with so many important things happening in so short a time...

Robert Hinshaw

Damn it! It's chapters like these that make the wait for the next one hard. And who the hell actually guessed the baker? I mean, if I read the entire story in one sitting, maybe, but once a week over a couple months, it came as a total surprise (a good one, and plausible on reflection, but still).

Aclys

Alas poor Shinoda, we hardly knew ye. He died a hero, now lets see if Nessy lives long enough to become a villain.

Young Youghurt

This is all actually in Nestra's head. Her car crash worsened her mental issues and all that happened until the hospital was just a halucination. Mazingwe is her doctor but he is her psychiatrist. Nestra being an heiress caused her social isolation and paired with absent parents resulted in lack of friends. Because of that she thought about herself as different or otherworldly and that in time developed into her current issues.

HJ

Damn — Seth was option number 2 on my list. I thought it was going to be Mazingwe. Thanks for the chapter!!

matt

Fucking...fuck.

ikbenbarry

don't worry Nestra, Mazingwe is just asking if you're human to know what tax bracket you belong to.

Herogh0st

Thanks for the chapter! Well, that was quite unexpected.

Tehd11

Heh, nice

Mantarok1205

Jolly good!

Vincebourgh

Of course it was fucking Seth! Great chapter!

Max

Great chapter ty

Ulbert

I wondered how this will derail. But to be honest… It was kind of obvious that Seth is at least a demon like her. On the other hand, you missed the opportunity for him to say : Hey, Hey, Sister! Seth here.

WarStrider72

Thanks for the chapter boss!
