the problem is... the same goes for every story by mecanimus

I’m already reading 23 stories at a time. I will not pick up any more while I’m keeping up a daily routine. But it is probably a viable way for most to handle this, even if they don’t want to.

I strive to induce time skips by binging a new story at the cost of keeping pace with everything else. Once I catch up with the new story, I have a backlog elsewhere to work through.

Feel you. Whereas Journey and Bob work really well in that once a week format, I fear that Changeling is… well. Not that suited for it. The problem I see though is, that shorter chapters wouldn’t really work as well. And the quality? And the planning? And the author? Well. That would either mean a lot more work, or any of the factors that make his stories so good would probably become worse. The only real way of conquering is an artificially induced coma, dementia, or maybe heavy drug usage, in order to either induce some sort of amnesia or to do an irl timeskip. Both options are neither wise nor help anyone but yourself, potentially damaging you in the process. So… I dunno. But it is indeed true, that this story, more than the others, uses cliffhangers way more freely and isn’t really written with small, contained ministories in mind. When I read journey, I could ho through a chapter and be happy with it until the next came out.. Bob is kind of the same, but did have more flow between chapters, making me sometimes think that once per week is too few as well. But Changeling, while it does try to do that… fails at that? It at least feels way more fluent and makes you hungry for more. All this buildup again and again, just for some ants and a translucent spider. It doesn’t lack anything, but the constant edging towards that release of violence… My favourite chapter at this point is her impressing Killroy and Ragnarok. Which feels really bad, considering we’re at chapter 26. But then again. We are at chapter 26. Which means, that even though we might have covered a lot of ground, we still have enough time for some sort of acceleration of pace. She just got her license. She’s no longer a societal bottom feeder. She is indeed able to take off now. But I do hope she actually does. Because right now this reads more like a slice of life with some interesting tidbits. With like… two fights that are somewhat interesting and a training montage that is way more interesting than the actual life or death situations (except for maybe when she barely lived the walker attack? That was cool.) Anyways. Thanks for always entertaining us. But at this point this small rant feels - maybe - earned. Love to hear from ya. See ya. I’ll lurk around. And to add insult to injury, or maybe injury to insult, I’ll eat a lye baguette, just to because I can. And you won’t be able to stop me.

Where is the Patreon tier that I can read chapters from the future but as of yet unwritten?

Jed Wolfgang

This story is too long interesting to be once a week. My thirst is real and un-slaked.

Leviathon251

Thanks for the chapter!

Dietz

Gonna be real funny when they see her Void taser. Doubly so when she starts dicing their frontline.

Mantarok1205

Jolly good!

Ty

Oooh next chapter will be fun.

Andrew

Thank you!

Dragon Earth

I wonder if anyone will pickup on that the artillerist style is not how she normally fights. Before they attack her that is.

Mr Fuzzknuckle

Just picked this series up a week or two ago and have been jones'ing for updates. Thanks, can't wait for the hammer drop!

Bunny Waffles

Time to eat some gleams!

WarStrider72
