Edit suggestion: break out one more scuffle -> break up one more scuffle

M. Lampi

They had the shape and gait of ant-eaters, though more muscular and significantly larger. Their (?)robes(?) ranged from deep brown to white and the muscular front legs reminded Viv of bears ==== Do these critters wear robes? roars and exclamations warned her someone was curing a path through the crowd, ==> roars and exclamations warned her someone was cutting a path through the crowd, she created on the fly because it was this of a ruptured eardrum. ==> she created on the fly because it was this or a ruptured eardrum. The only thing missing was steel, really. ..... Aromatic herbs fought for space with pots and pans in a colossal mess of dizzying sensations. ==> So if there wasn't a lot of steel, then what were the pots and pans made from? Clay? A request for a list of tradable good garnered his approval, ==> A request for a list of tradable goods garnered his approval, wait until they served some of the freshed kava she had ever drunk ==> wait until they served some of the freshest kava she had ever drunk and the absence of male of warring age. ==> and the absence of males of warring age.

Ty

He's obviously a shitty leader, good riddance.

Ecthe

Good idea !

lenkite

She *really* should bring that ancient kark soldier back to Lady Azar just to show her that Harrak did indeed have Kark in their ranks. Azar felt dubious about helping the Kark earlier so her viewpoint needs some adjustment.

Balaji Dutt

Some edits: "The old archmages smiled" -> "The old archmage smiled" "with the vindictive of logical consequences to one’s brainless actions" -> "with the vindictiveness of logical consequences to one’s brainless actions" "carrying dejections in wheelbarrows" -> "carrying ejections in wheelbarrows" (Assuming ejections here referring to pakar 💩?) "Their robes ranged" -> "Their fur ranged" (Assuming their here refers to the Pakar and not Kark) "and long list of merits" -> "and long lists of merits" "for a list of tradable good" -> "for a list of tradable goods" "heard the waters of Little" -> "heard the waters of Little Fall"

Diego Rossi

It is possible to set up farming in semi-arid territories without ruining them. You can't do intensive farming, but you can use rotation and crops that are appropriate for the territory. Not something that you can learn in a few years, especially if you come from a different territory and don't want to learn from the locals.

Caitlin

Oh dang so good!

M. Gunnarsson

Why be subtle? Just name it the Guillotine.

StuBee3

No new chapter notification for this chapter for some reason.

Julkur

Or the meteor that Viv suspected, with a high metal containment

BossDawg

That makes sense, but I was confused because back in empire of dawn war you had current people refer to the 100 as the emperor's finest.

JHD

To make mistakes is human, so unless you're not human no need to feel sorry. If you're not human, I will not tell.

Jed Wolfgang

Abuse is abuse.

Emily Gurnavage

Most of those lands, yea, which is whats screwing the Pure Leagues expansion efforts. It was briefly mentioned this chapter though that the Red tribe or whatever has lands that is unusually rich for the steppes and its why they historically were the strongest group. More metal, better farmland, good location, etc. Was mentioned between them leVing the lake and before ariving at the red tribe iirc. Read this chapter in chunks tho so could be wrong on the spot.

Red Viking

It'd be so much fun to have him and Solfis meet.

Roombot

Yes Marruk! Overturn centuries of sexism and shitty parenting!

Roombot

I hope she recruits him

Roombot

She'll have to take baths!!! Gasp

Bobs

Thanks for the chapter! email didnt go out

Robert Sutherland

HES (Her Emperess' Ship) Richelieu

Robert Sutherland

Strong, irreverent female leads?

william wallace

There there. *pats head*

Mecanimus

No, he was hailing the original Emperor. The dead one in the throne room.

Mecanimus

Come on, it's not a cliff, it's a teaser.

Mecanimus

Fixed, sorry

Mecanimus

I dont know what is wrong with me

Mecanimus

Yes, fixed sorry

Mecanimus

Fixed. :/

Mecanimus

Fixed it... :<

matt

I physically had to skip the descriptions.

D

Huh? Oh, that makes sense. Thx. :D

Ulbert

Wait a second. Is this Viv Arthur Dialogue perhaps inspired by Llamas with hats? Maybe it’s just the recency bias with Filmcows anniversary, but the long, drawn out “Arthur” combined with the evasiveness really gives me the vibes. May just be recency bias speaking though.

T'Ericka

😂💀😭 bless your heart

T'Ericka

I love that actually

David

To be fair, Nestra, Ariane and Viviane are very close character wise.

David

Or maybe a metal gisement ? One the kark can't exploit without technology/magic.

David

Any person with enough stats (mainly will and endurance). So most archmages and 4th step warriors can, if they don't die in battle.

Clifton

I suspect it has to do with water supply. Stepes are typically fairly arid, meaning they're unsuitable for most plants beyond short grass. There wouldn't be much beyond the grass to hold the soil together if you, say, dig it up and plant crops. Near a lake you can support alternate plant life (even trees) that can help support the soil for more diverse plant life.

Clifton

Nah, he's not Harrakan. Name it after Farren, who died for the cause.

LenoraeKB

This has been a few times that six hundred years have been mentioned recently. Did the fall of Harrak get retconned to be 600 years ago or is this just a recurring mistake?

DM

So very good

D

[] Permanent fields and stone dwellings showed that this was an important place, [] So, im a bit confused about the 'fields' thing. Weren't we told that you cant do fields in those lands? I mean, aside from the short lived ones who turn into desert after a year or two? Or is ist just special locations that can do so like the lake... and these parts of the red tribe...?

ARealPerson

Any theories for what Arthur found at the bottom of the lake? Smart money is probably on a monster but theorising baselessly is more fun so I'm going to say it's an ancient Harraken war mech. Because why not?

Senko

Oh Marruk you poor Naive girl and after Viv warned you too. First you were a Kark with a dream, then a Kark with an idea, then leader of a warrant of hundreds. Now you'll replace your father as leader of the red tribe and before you know it you'll be Duchess Marruk ruler of the steps and responsible for all your people under the New Harruk empire.

Stultus

Wait, since when can Kark live for 600 years?

BossDawg

Great chapter. But if people are going to keep calling Viv the emperor it should but probably be made clear that the head ruler is gender neutral in Harrakan.

Vincebourgh

Love the old veteran's energy! Hope we see him again. Solfis would love to talk to another ancient patriot.

Jed Wolfgang

You SOB. The cliiiiiiif

RepossessedSoul

You call Viv Nestra when having her hug Marruk.

Adam Davies

I saw it coming, but I am totally ready for the father versus daughter montage episode regardless.

Leviathon251

I won't lie I think the destruction of the pure league may end up being my favourite part of the story so far. Which is really saying something. I actually cannot wait

Red Viking

Holy shit, that old ass auxilliary was brilliant!

BelligerentGnu

Frosthawk is a wise, wise man. "They ran away screaming." <- I love how you construct the telling of these little moments, it gives such character to the people and the writing. Finally, fuck yes Marruk.

Andrew

Thank you!

Domifax

Well it does contain Nestra soo...

Nicholas Grey

shield that repulsed only solid water — mage superiority m -liquid water. Unless you mean hail? roars and exclamations warned her someone was curing a path through the crowd -“cutting a path” Viv wisely decided to wait until they served some of the freshed kava she had ever drunk before -freshest

Nicholas Grey

Love the fact that it was explicitly mentioned way back in the beginning that this was something she hated, not just something new sprung on the readers.

Tsorov

Viv wisely decided to wait until they served some of the freshed kava she had ever drunk before talking -> Viv wisely decided to wait until they served some of the freshest kava she had ever drunk before talking

James Faulkner

The old dude rolling up yelling HARRAK ETERNAL is my favorite part so far 😂

Tsorov

This time, Viv did cast a sound dampening enchantment she created on the fly because it was this of a ruptured eardrum. -> This time, Viv did cast a sound dampening enchantment she created on the fly because it was this or a ruptured eardrum.

Mantarok1205

Jolly good!

DAK

"The dragon didn’t actually seem sorry." This made me chuckle. Kind of like if a cat actually apologized after slowly and methodically pushing that glass of milk off the table.

pelya

Marruk straight up copies Viv when talking with her subordinates. And it's not even subtle, that's just how the leaders of Harrak give their orders, with a banter and an eye roll.

Unwillingmainer

Love how Arthur get new friends and minions wherever she goes, or else. And nothing adds to the classic Viv brand diplomacy like having a fuck off dragon around scaring and recruiting. Also, I would have been very hard pressed to not murder a room full of people eating like that. I've fucking called out people I barely know for that shit and doubt I could Have handled it that well.

Isiah Debarros

I love that there's just like a 600 year old survivor of the Empire

RottenTangerine

Really enjoyed this chapter. Thanks!

SDCard

Thanks for the chapter!

Domifax

Thanks for the Nestra*

Isley

good chappie

Young Youghurt

I think the ship should be named HVV (Her Vivianships vessel) General Jartalasi (of the General Jartalasi class/type). He is named as one of the few good faith actors building bridges among different groups and that is what Vivs is trying to aconplish. He was also her teacher.

Young Youghurt

The dedication is wholesome but the frustration makes the whole comment sound a little bit ominous.

Midnight Harbinger

Truly, the bane of my existence.

Robert Sutherland

There's a nestra instead of Viv hiding in there!

iloverugs

I like how Viv has a stronger reaction to a room full of open-mouth chewers than literal mind-bending abominations

PickledTink

I submit the name HLS Audacity for the Harrakan Land Ship. Also, absolutely figures that Arthur would obtain new members of her child cult in these foreign lands. She understands their value in ways most people do not. Only jarring error I spotted reading was here: ---- Viv did cast a sound dampening enchantment she created on the fly because it was this of a ruptured eardrum. ---- "of" instead of "or".

Jackjargon

Thanks for the chapter!

Jackjargon

Yikes

william wallace

Nestra crossover chapter again.

JHD

Thanks for the chapter. "Nestra wrapped her arm around the stout kark’s chest, managing to reach maybe halfway to the other shoulder" => Nestra should be Viv right?

Lucas beck

Switched viv with nestra at lunch

Dash Marley

Hey, so I'm not sure what sharing settings look like on the back end, but this just appeared on the changeling feed.

Mecanimus

This chapter is dedicated to my father in law, who couldn't chew with his mouth closed to save his fucking life.

WarStrider72

Thanks for the chapter
