Simon Casey

I think that was your brain reading it as widow maker because that’s a more common phrase/name. Every time i’ve seen the gun’s name it’s been window maker.

Random Guy

Okay I have to ask wasnt the gun called the Widow Maker or was it always the Window Maker? Both would fit just was a bit confused since I always read it as Widow Maker.

Fantastic Chapter. I think fleshing out the combat capabilities of the new "human Nestra" might be an interesting topic to approach in the next few chapters. Some editing suggestions: "Nestra lined the beast while it called for its brethren." Nestra lined the sights up with the beast while it called for its brethren. The same goes for all the other instances of this phrase. " No muffler. No sword." They're usually called "suppressors" from a formal perspective, not that it's terribly important. People have half a dozen colloquial names for them, ranging from "silencer" to "whisper pickle", and even gun nuts will still use those names if they're speaking informally and so inclined.

TheLunaticCo

I don't think it would, she was expected to have one as far as everyone else knew, and now she is eating a bunch of mana rich food, so the obvious connection for observers is there.

Adurna

There really should be a way. Might raise more questions than helpful though.

TheLunaticCo

When is she going to regrow her human form core?

Manlor

I'm suspicious too. She's the only one who knew Nestra was coming, and could have somehow engineered a breach.

TheBotler

Thank you for the chap

This was explained in Chapter 21: ---- “No it is alright. Both rely on space manipulation, however demon Masking is a void-based ability that superimposes two bodies in the same twinned space and…” Seth sighed, though Nestra wasn’t sure why. “There will be plenty of time to study this in the future. For now, we can put it like this. The other body always exists in a space… inside of your current one. The human body is tethered to the demon one, so it can be destroyed which will pull your demon body forward but if the demon body is destroyed, you die. The hidden body exists in animated suspension, meaning it is inactive but it will heal by drawing energy and nutrients from the active body. And, uh, you can choose to swap the items you are currently wearing. For you right now, it will only be a handful of items but mature demons can carry a lot. Especially the women.” ---- It is an actual secondary body that exists in a pocket space. I guess the best analogy would be a bag that you can turn inside out. Outside is one form, inside is the other. Just extend it to have bodies for many different species. Only one of those forms (the demon one) is essential for survival though. Consider that form to be the organ that cannot be regenerated if destroyed.

HJ

Its very likely that the human body is not a simulation. Instead its a real body that’s a puppet for the demon brain.

Arian

They grow a physical core at C-class. Before it's... conceptual, I guess?

Clara

She doesn't always hiss her s'es

DAK

Totally agree— a very complicated thing. Males can get multiple masks, females one per species…Having the mask on/off seems to change thinking patterns or at least aggression…And the human mask starts with a core that can then be devoured if you are a hungry azshi, but can’t be regrown later. (That one still confuses me — why do gleams need a core to be a gleam, but don’t grow a core until around C class?)

Mundane

The mask is such a crazy thing. Like it simulates a baseline human ear damage. That is what I call commitment.

DaftWully

The creation of modern sculpture usually requires a culprit.

Jamarr

Whether she's involved or not, I'm wondering if she's a female Gray Demon aka one of the coven fucking around with her. Nestra is close to being able to make her own portals so it would make sense for one of the coven to make contact.

Mantarok1205

Jolly good!

Bret Steinkamp

Absolutely no possible way that trusting her could ever backfire…

Quixotic

"The other culprit was an architect, John Stonegrave " That'd be suspect, wouldn't it? Culprit implies known guilt.

lenkite

Minor corrections for consistency: "Sculpture? Is her piece a sculpture?” -> "Sssculpture? Is her piece a sssculpture?” “Stop it, you’re freaking me out.” -> "Ssstop it, you’re freaking me out.

PickledTink

No. I would not be surprised if it was her.

Sister Carmilla

God, mom's comment regarding "opportunities" sounds so fucking sus.

riseris

No there is nothing that says the killer is a single person working alone.

SDCard

Thanks for the chapter!

Jamarr

Is it paranoid to still believe Teneru is involved somehow?

Max

Thanks for the chapter

WarStrider72

Thanks for the chapter boss
