Craig

Im assuming that the Aliens pulled an “event horizon” situation: they were trying to travel in their own universe but fucked it up. Remember they can’t be from the same planet because they didn’t have mana conduits and they breathe different air

Sgt. Tibs

Sheem toats riled up this dragon

RonGAR

Did I read that right? Did the "Alien" say that portal was for a shorter rip and "Not.Another.World"???? Are they from the other side of the planet? Another continent? IF that is the case, I would say, OH OH!!! Big trouble ahead. Good thing Viv made a good impression.

Axavia

She may have lost the guns, but atleast she still has the extremely sharp dagger of +1 Cut

Joshua Aarons

I'm glad that didn't happen.

pelya

Every person isekaid from France automatically acquires a cooking skill at a second step. It's just that Nyil did not invent baguettes yet, so Viv's cooking skill remains locked.

pelya

Viv just doesn't want to start a war with some country a whole continent away. Okay she can annihilate the Sheem royal family and their whole army, but then what, govern them from Sinur's Gate using a long-ass transcontinental portal? While she keeps her disguise she can say "It wasn't me", and Sheem will be like "It wasn't her" because a war with Harrak will be a huge diplomatic pain and there's a chance of a scary black witch just popping randomly and looting whatever she wants from their country.

pelya

Judgement only interfered when humans killled dragonlings for a several years. Each individual dragon is expected to be strong and smart enough to wrangle their local human population into obedience on their own.

Enif

Aww, I was hoping we’d get aliens for a little longer. Imagine an arc where she helping the aliens and accidentally gets yoinked to ANOTHER world and has to find a way back.

Senko

I was thinking that too. Just not sure if Sandsong did it, someone in Sandsong did it without official approval because people are stupid and accidents do happen or if Sheem did it and framed Sandsong.

Senko

I see someone still bears a grudge over their anchor being damaged. Viv your not in the remotest secret. Good thing that mage is dead losing the last coil gun would not have been taken well nor just imprisoning those responsible instead of treating them as treasured guests in search of alliance. So shadowlands + Sheem vs Harrak + Sandsong. Next chapter why the dragon is so angry and is it aimed at the right people?

Nopret

Have you played dark souls3? Opening doors is one of your most powerful tools there.

Mecanimus

It seems you're having a bad experience reading my story. From your comment, I can tell that the story wont improve for you so I will refund your monthly subscription and I strongly advise you to stop reading.

James Faulkner

Tftc!

FuriousDee

Why were they discussing number of shells then?

Roombot

The real surprise is that the alien invasion seems to be a minor side plot and not a big deal in the end!

Roombot

Wouldn’t Judgment have objected to that?

Michael T

A wizard did it.

I have no problem with Oleander as a uniter of humanity - it's in line with the motives of his goddess and he's probably the best suited to make it happen, because Viv isn't all that ambitious and forceful. My problem is the discrepancy between tiny Harrak, essentially a small fiefdom pretending to be an empire and whatever continent spanning global force Oleander has already assembled. Up to this chapter we knew that he had united a small and thinly populated continent through brutal means, but now he's a religious figure - a chosen saviour, who already has the allegiance of other nations. The hints that Baran will also follow turn this conflict between Viv and Oleander into Davis vs. Goliath and I don't want to read that. This has always been a meandering and aimless story, mostly because Viv has no clearly defined goals and it worked for a while. But it hasn't worked ever since the Nemeti were introduced into the story and Viv became the protagonist of a shonen adventure series, were she randomly visits exotic places, beats up the bad guys and goes off to the next adventure. This author is either incabale or unwilling to come up with a proper storyline and early signs aren't promising with the endgame around the corner.

Emily Gurnavage

"How can Vandal even break it?" I choose to believe that Nous is still salty enough about its rock that it expended more power than makes sense to make that happen. Like, a completely absurd amount of the systems power because screw Viv, she broke Nous's rock lol. "Will Vandal also break huge boulders and great swords?" Vandal has made her break pens, doorknobs, iirc the wheel to drive a ship, weapons, a hairbrush - it'll break what it wants to break. Viv is prolly lucky that the all-powerful-WMD-orb from Harrak didn't shatter when she claimed it, lol. . Keep in mind Vandal wasn't gained like a normal skill. Viv had it directly granted to her as a punishment/revenge. And from some of its appearances in the story, we know for a fact that at least *some* of the breaks are not just chance but Nous interferring to trigger the skill for fun/to annoy Viv at a great time. Its a comedic relief skill controlled by a childish half-dead zombie-God-System, I just dont expect that one single skill to ever really follow any "rules" for how the rest of things work. And a convenient tool for the author to keep things like guns out of Viv's hands.

The Uub

See? This writing, having the sand people engage in a dirge in which they all participated and harmonized was not really Germaine to the story, but added a depth to the local culture. Truly great writing.

D

Oleander was already introduced as 'the first ascender' and the 'chosen' of the Godes of war. So its pretty normal for him to go for world domination imo. Not to mention that with him entering the conflict we get closer to the final in which the (human)gods, old and new will have a second round. As for viv going solo, i think the made it clear that she originally considered it more like a vacation then anything serious, no? Well that and the ominous silence of the spark of luck and lord warcrime's comment on there being interesting times ahead. I totally agree that its better for the shoe to drop OUTSIDE her home turf. ^^ I mean seriously, besides the annoying vandal thing, story is still good and doesnt feel like meca has become tired. Want to read something where the author should have stopped books ago, find exforce... XD

lenkite

The weapon isn't infused with Nyil's mana and likely has gone through millions of hours of engineering failure tolerance tests. How can Vandal even break it ? Will Vandal also break huge boulders and great swords ?

matt

Or wants to open a door.

Mantarok1205

Jolly good!

Kennyevilmonkey

She has flamethrowers and catapults for launching fire wasp hives built into those.

Insomnia

A head of state travelling incognito on a solo mission to a completely foreign place, based on flimsy information that can't be verified in any shape or form ahead of time is already stupid and immersion breaking. Viv also doesn't even consider the possibility that it's a trap and just goes on this adventure - because she's bored and it's her fate or something. It's just a nonsensical scenario that's additionally played for laughs and the aforementioned wackiness. Just a menagerie of random nonsense and the building blocks for cliched story developments with regards to Oleander and the endgame of the novel. All I'm seeing are the telltale signs of an author who wants to end their story and is throwing stuff on the wall and seeing what sticks. I was already anxious after this dubious timeskip and these few chapters are making all alarm bells go off.

Orange Thistle

Also I do agree that giving Viv a gun would be to powerful, and needed stopping. She is already a Black mana Elemental and has a dragon daughter plus Grand children.

Orange Thistle

I'm enjoying the vandal perk she has, however it feels like it only appears when she risks becoming to powerful (even if that's it's purpose). Would we be able to see some more mundane occurrence of it, and possibly some more interactions between Viv and Nous regarding it. Maybe Nous rejustifying it's purpose, and continued presence. I'm not suggesting that it gets removed, however I feel that it's been with Viv for a long time as punishment and probably needs a new reason. Maybe link it and a Nous discussion in with it's recent upgrade.

Orange Thistle

I assume the only reason she is keeping up the disguise is keep to Sheem superiors from ordering an invasion of Songs and by having them doubt her abilities. Even if it is now clear that they are aware of her and that she's there for the dragon.

Orange Thistle

Thanks for the chapter. Been enjoying how this arc is going. Feels fresh and new due to Viv being somewhere were she can't lean on her reputation or country.

Nickgamma

I love this chapter as always! I only crave for more! Haha

FuriousDee

I remember it was relevant for 20 seconds until they finished running them over as they already planned to do. @D that would probably just get her smote.

BelligerentGnu

You don't remember the brake lever snapping when she fought the fate lizards?

SDCard

Thanks for the chapter! Honestly the Vandal bit is getting a bit old - at this point it seems less like a comedic bit and more and more annoying. Never made sense to me why she received it either, since she just did what thousands before her already tried - really the people who set the challenge and came up with the idea should have been punished.

Kota

She's nothing if not stubborn. And I'm not sure she could have saved that many people (if any) by going full Black Elemental Archmage - the idea was that this would bring more heat down on them and endanger her companions further, right?

Kota

Sorry you're not enjoying it, I couldn't disagree more. It's easy for "empire-building" plots to take over and push aside the more individual, small-scale stories, and I'm glad to see we're getting more variety than that. To me, this is a very fun and relatively light-hearted storyline that still serves to build up the coming larger plotlines, such as Oleander. Neither "annoying" nor pointless, in my opinion. But that just goes to show you can't please everyone, I guess.

Insomnia

Honestly, this mini arc has been incredibly annoying and pointless. All of it just seems like an excuse for comedy and wackiness. I'm also not thrilled by the prospect of Oleander as a religious figure and that the Sheem are already allied with him. Really disappointing that you essentially reset the entire story with the long timeskip, while keeping the progress of Harak at a minimum and making Oleander some kind of overpowered foe. If you actually make Baran side with him too, I'll probably just stop reading, because at that point your just crossing tropes of a checklist.

i shteynberg

sounds like someone stole a dragon egg…

D

Wasnt it stated that sin might attack her if he knew who she was?

D

I swear, mecanimus read how we where speculating what was left on the thread list to write about and he was all: 'Hehehe, you think im that predictable? Here have a bit of an alien invasion to keep you on your toes.' ^^

D

Not sure about killing. Considering she was talking about murderous rage, id beat thats a mother? Also dragon child raising seem to be bit harsh, if someone did something to their eggs... *ouch* I mean what else could raise a dragons ire to this degree.... well except not paying off your loan to a certain someone. ^_^

D

Meh, by now id think she would have threaten to destroy his phallus replacement, consequences be damned. But i guess even after all these years she still finds it funny too? Oo

Drakenclaw

I don't remember Nous challenging people to break his important anchors? I just remember that the mages used the anchor as target for examinees because it was so resilient to magic. Actually breaking it was never their intend, nor was it Nous. I agree that it's used a bit arbitrary.

Arlen

yeah, she could have at least saved the mage me thinks

Drakenclaw

Thanks for the chapter. Vandal upgaded to Trans-dimensional Vandal First, the system brackets are missing. I first was confused what was happening there until I realized that was a system message. Second upgaded -> upgraded

tr13ze

Thanks for the chapter 😁

FuriousDee

She already has artillery on some of the Liberator's doesn't she?

the btrflyz

The last dragon on a rampage ended up just being a feral child, and the sibling to Viv's adopted daughter. I think this time it's not going to be possible to talk it down, and she'll have to kill it.

FuriousDee

It wasn't a challenge he set it was one a bunch of mortals set. I also don't think it has ever been a major contributor to the difficulty she faces. This chapter there was a set of coincidences which prevented her getting a gun if vandal hadn't been one of them something else would have been because that was the joke.

Daemion

I think at this point Nous is doing it because it's funny.

Dob

Viv let a lot of people die to maintain a charade she doesn't really care about and barely made an effort to keep up,even after it was clear that the secret mission wasn't a secret to anyone from the word go.

Clifton

I'm wondering at this point who did what to the dragon, and what it's going to take to redirect or calm them down.

Clifton

Seems to be a higher proportion of elementals on this continent. Makes me wonder why that is.

BelligerentGnu

I hate that *fucking* vandal title so much. It detracts from every chapter it's mentioned in. It's not only infuriating that Nous threw a hissy fit over someone succeeding at a challenge he set, it's also only ever used as a convenient lever when things need to get arbitrarily more difficult for Viv. Fuck it with a goddamn spoon.

Kennyevilmonkey

She is the author of Katalepsis and Necroepilogos. Two very good stories that I would recommend checking out. If you like Thundamoo, then her writing should be right up your alley.

Nait02

Who's Hungry/ What are they writing?

Andrew

Thank you!

Kennyevilmonkey

I'm thinking her plans are starting with cannons/artillery first. Don't need as delicate or precise of machinery to make an explosive yeet tube.

Jackjargon

We're finally there! Oh no thos dragon problem looks baaad

the btrflyz

Poor Viv, two guns in a row destroyed right before her eyes. Wonder how she could get off Nous' shit list? Dedicate a temple to them in each of her cities?

Nicolas

She is gonna go through all this crap and end up blowing her cover over a using a bathroom or something i swear

Kennyevilmonkey

First Thundamoo, then Hungry, and now Mecanimus. Back to back releases from some of my most favorite authors. Damn, these past couple of hours have been some good reading!

RainbowCatTopHat

Good chapter! I feel like Viv is going to start up production of guns when she returns home out of spite.

Desert Yeti

"It's never aliens... until it's aliens." Well, the aliens are gone now and Viv only has to deal with a dragon now. Or does the dragon have to deal with Viv? The latter, I think.
